How Long Does It Take?
0

3 posts in this topic

Everything points to celiac's and doctor's are setting up tests for celiacs. Except I tried eating gluten-free at which I was highly successful - minus a few small cheats - such as when one of the kindergartners I was subbing gave me one of his birthday cupcakes - but besides an initial weight loss of 7lbs in one week - I've noticed no improvements. However, I'm constipated, depressed/anxious, and iron levels are still very low. How long does it take to get better?

It takes longer than 1 week ,even if you had been strictly gluten-free , to get better. There is no time. It will depend on lots of things like how bad the damages, what vitamin deficiencies you have, how fast your body heals, A few months at best, a few years at worst.

Don't go gluten-free if you are going to be tested.

Karen said what I was going to say. :)

There is no set time frame for recovery.

Some people feel great at 6 months, some take years.

Stay on gluten for testing, otherwise, you'll get unreliable and invalid results.

(is there an echo in here? )

It is hard to stay patient when you feel so lousy (believe me, I know!) but it gets better and better as the months pass and your body starts to heal.

Hang in there! and welcome to the forum. :)
