I will try converting my milk kefir grains...I did not realize you could do that Thank you! I am VERY stressed. This is my last quarter. I graduate in June and I have no idea where I will work. I cannot get a job with my face like this. My degree is in FASHION!!!! We do not have any type of meal plan or anything at my school.

You HAVE to communicate with your tutors and see what they have to say. They will not be understanding with you if your progress simply falls behind, but they will be very supportive and maybe even be able to offer some advice regarding your studies if you put them in the picture.

So talk to your tutor as soon as possible. I'm studying illustration and it's the same type of work and pressure as your major, so I do understand your stress. Remember, one step at a time. If you tackle everything at once things won't go so smoothly. Focus on the tasks that are most important first, and just keep in mind that if you keep stressing you won't get much done. Relax, and you'll produce. You'll figure things and hopefully your face will clear up before it's time to get a job, so don't worry about that for now. Worry about getting better, and about your studies.

Prickly's shopping suggestion was a good one. If you have any foods you've not opened yet and you have the receipts you can always try changing them for something else.

Berries and fruits except for pealed pears will provoke your DH. I know this will sound a little gross but chicken wings are not very expensive and they're quite fatty. I had a friend who wanted to gain weight so ate chicken wings with rice. Rice is also cheap.

I am emailing my teacher now to let him know my situation. My other teacher is already aware. I have a bunch of chicken and rice! But I cant eat that all day! I need something I can take with me on the go. I usually eat bananas when I'm on the run and I eat kale and broccoli for greens. I guess I can finish up the last of bananas and buy a few pears instead. However bananas don't cause we to break out no matter how many I eat.

Apple – golden delicious

Nashi Pears

Paw Paw

Tamarillo

Broccoli is sadly high on sals so you don't want to buy that anymore.

As for veggies (also from none to low amount of sals):

Bamboo Shoots

Beans (dried – not borlotti)

Cabbage (green or white)

Celery

Green Split peas

Lentils (brown)

Lentils (red)

Lettuce (iceberg)

Peas (dried)

Potato (old/white and peeled)

Swede

Bean Sprouts

Borlotti beans

Brussels sprouts

Cabbage – red

Cauliflower

Chickpeas

Chives

Choko

Fresh Asparagus

Green Beans

Green Peas

Leek

Mung bean sprouts

Onion

Potato (white with peel)

Shallots

Yellow split peas

and veggies with medium sals, meaning you have to eat them in moderation:

Asparagus – tinned

Aubergine – peeled

Beetroot

Black Olives

Canned Asparagus

Carrot

Fresh Tomato

Frozen Spinach

Lettuce (other than iceberg)

Marrow

Mushrooms

Parsnips

Potato (new and red Pontiac)

Beware though that you should avoid any beans, mushrooms, and cauliflower if you want to go on candida diet as well as sals.

As for the rice, you can have rice one day, potato another day, and so on. You can even try brown rice as a third alternative since it has a different flavor and consistency from white rice so it won't feel the same. Just make sure that the rice you're buying isn't mixed with barely or some glutenous grain.

If you're short on time make a large batch and then pack a small lunch every day with a fork. I know repeating what you eat is tedious, believe me I've gotten so sick of what I eat because I can count the things I eat on my fingers, but it's something you might have to put up with for a short while for the sake of feeling better.

If you get really bored of the repetitive foods, just post all the things you can eat on a forum post and ask for recipe suggestions. You'll get flooded with amazing ideas :-) and I speak from experience!

You could make homemade apple chips from a low sal apple variety.

If you have rice flour you could probably figure out a low sal/li chocolate (use cocoa) cookie, etc.

Here's one. Instead of full eggs you could do egg whites. Replace butter with shortening or oil (I think you'd reduce oil a bit if using). I'd refrigerate the dough before baking. You could add some cocoa. I'd use half the amount of maple syrup to sugar.

If you google "kale salicylate" you'll get lots of results. Sub kale for anything on the search and you'll likely find an answer. It seems sals levels are debated a bit, so if you're ok with something I'd use that info over a chart. Remember, they are cumulative and it may take a few days to see a reaction.

That sounds like hives. Except the freckling part. Hives can be caused by anything/nothing. There are heat hives, cold hives, pressure hives, stress hives....do antihistimines help?

Maybe you should put this on another thread, Cougie...dovit can get more attention.

No...not hives, definatly not hives! Its litterally hundreds of bloodspots(pinpricks)right under the skin...like broken bloodvessels!( or a pin prick)....thats why I took intrest when pinpricks were mentioned! I've talked about it on other threads...noone knows what it is...this is the first time I've heard it mentioned by someone ELSE! Even my Dr. can't explain it...and He used to be a dermatologist before he took over my regular doctors practice! Fustrating! My skin itches like crazy...but NOT because of the spots...THAT comes and goes!The itching is something different all together!!!

Definately celiac related! :(:blink:

I googled images for Urticaria pigmentosa...thats NOT it either! Nice try though!Thankyou! What I have is smaller...less noticable...unless you look...not raised...and NOT itchy! It literally looks like I got in a fight with a pincushin! and you can watch them apear like the stars coming out at dusk...first one...then two...then six...then twenty!Its crazy! The histimene part is the only part that might be a clue! Thanks for trying! And I've HAD Hives before...Inside...and out!That isn't it! I get Hives in my stomache from blueberries...and I get 'em in my intire intestinal tract when I get Glutened...(feels like BEESTINGERS...really hurts)...Couldn't figure out what it was at first...but the doc said..."oh yeah...thats hives!" :blink: ...Thanks Doc...thats alot of help! :lol:

    • Today was the big day when I went to the GI and this is the first time I have felt heard about and well taken care of.  I told him about the two celiac blood tests  (in my first post) normal, he said that often happens, even with people who do have celiac and he needed to see the report and pictures from my endoscope.    I had filled out the appropriate Kaiser paperwork for Sutter to send all my medical records, but they ended up sending a celiac disease to me with the records, which Sutter said they could not use.  We also talked about gluten sensitivity v. celiac, and he said a lot of people are sensitive to gluten even if they don't have celiac. He said that my symptoms sound like classic IBS, which can be caused by any number of things.  He asked if I would try the FODMAP diet, which limits certain foods and requires no gluten due to what being He said my symptoms sound like classic IBS, which he said can be caused by any number of things, including gluten sensitivity.  He has asked if I would try the FODMAP diet, which has restricted foods as well as no gluten because most gluten products have wheat in them.  So, since I am planning on going gluten free anyway, and I don't want another endoscope or blood tests if absolutely necessary, I am going to try the FODMAP diet and see what happens. I filled a consent form at the GI office today to have all my records sent to him so he can view the endoscope pathology report and photos.  I have an appointment with a Registered Dietician on September 30, and follow up appointment the GI in 4 months.

The reactivity between alpha gliadin and corn, millet, oats, rice and dairy has been denounced as invalid by gastroenterologists and celiac disease researchers. While at a medical school in Missouri, biopsies did not show improvement in villous atropy until all alpha gliadin sources and corn, millet, rice and oats were removed from the diet."  Note this research is two years old but hilites the problem with non-gluten rice protein that you are having. It is the alpha gliadin sources that it causing the cross reactivity you are experiencing when you eat rice protein's. She says quoting "Celiac disease has gotten the most attention in antibody research, but the current data on cross-reactivity of antibodies is allowing a better understanding of gluten sensitivity. Antigen reactivity to alpha-gliadin can trigger immune attacks on many individuals beyond those with positive DQ 2, DQ 8 and TTG test results. She goes on to say "A low inflammatory diet customized to each person through testing for cross-reactivity or elimination diet protocols is needed to restore a state of health and well-being."  which sounds exactly like what you are doing. If you are still having problems after elminating rice a 30 day elimination of all the alpha gliadin proteins might be in order.  Corn is a common reactivity problem I hear with a gluten allergy from my friends as well as the obvious lactose problems that can be common among celiacs.  But rarely do you hear Rice allergy's brought up in context of a gluten allergy. I am glad you are making progress on finding your triggers. Read the whole article for yourself to see if there are nuggets of truth I did not highlight in my response. I hope this is helpful.     • One other thing - you might be able to tolerate some dairy if it's only the FODMAPs problem. I discovered that many cheese such as cheddar have effectively no lactose. And my wife sometimes makes 24 hour yoghurt, which also has effectively no lactose. Those have been fine for my tummy.
    • I'm new to the forum, so this topic may already have been covered....please forgive me, if that's the case.  I am in the beginning stages of guiding the development of a 504 plan to file for my 6th-grade daughter who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 2 weeks ago. The diagnosis was made with a biopsy. My first question...A 504 is what's necessary....not just the IHCP, correct or no? I have the Physician's Statement & the Medical Evaluation report from our GI specialist. What else do I need to have at the ready? The team has requested we go ahead and write the IHCP & then include it with the 504.  And my second question...What accommodations have others found relevant to include on the IHCP  & 504? I just watched a 504-Plan webinar I found on this forum & it recommends the following: -access to gluten-free food in classroom & cafeteria - excused absence from activities that use gluten-containing foods or materials -  prevent cross-contamination in school food service - use of microwave to heat personal meals -  bathroom priveleges Is there anything I need to consider adding? My daughter does prefer eating school meals rather than packing a lunch from home & I am concerned about special events, overnight field trips etc. My learning curve is steep. What am I missing? Teach me, please & thanks so much! This forum has already helped me tremendously these past few weeks.
    • SIBO, microscopic colitis, probably celiac here (celiac's a self diagnosis, was gluten-free before getting tested). Now my doctor is suspecting hashimoto's due to low heart rate, so getting tested for that probably tomorrow. Anyway, I feel your pain... Low FODMAPs on top of gluten-free is tough. One thing that has helped me a lot is betaine HCl with meals. I can actually eat some onions, garlic, and fruit again with much less trouble. Make sure you get a safely gluten-free brand. Country Life is certified gfco, so is tested to less than 5ppm and is what I take. Good luck!
