When Glutened...

So yesterday, someone told me I was: senile, full of shi*, foolish, acting childish, and that it was "all in my head"...when I requested my hamburger be barbequed on tin-foil so to avoid the CC from the sauce. I've done it before, and it worked wonderfully. This person told me "the sauce is burnt off when you cook it anyhow!"...and I tried to explain to him the concept of cross-contamination, but he's too damn stubborn to even listen. He won't let me get a word in, so I can't say anything to him though believe me-I've tried.

Anyhow, said person did it after because I said to "said person" that I won't eat it otherwise, and there was company around. Said peron had already cause enough upset, and other people tried to explain to him why I wanted to do "such a thing".

"Said person" disregarded me afterwards, and somehow ended up getting gluten on my food --whatever it was, I don't know. Now I'm suffering the consequences.

My question, after this, is: what do you find works best for you recovering from a fresh glutening?

It makes me so sad and so mad when I hear stories like this on the board. Why would somebody treat a celiac like this? I'll never understand it.

L Glutamine powder helps some. Drink lots of water. Eat simply and clean. And wait it out. Feel better soon!

Lots of water, double up on probiotics for a week and rest.

Sorry you got "hit". :(

Even sorrier you had to deal with a dipstick who does not take you

seriously.

Thank you, both of you! I ask so many questions, but I always get the answers I need. I'm feeling better now, but will keep drinking lots of water and stuff. What about epsom salt? I read that epsom salt helps the gluten be removed from your body, or is that just foolishness? :P

Well, sweetie, just do not eat it. :P

But if you want to soak in an epsom salt bath, go for it.

It helps to relax muscles. That's it.

Try to relax. A "glutening" sucks (in plain English  ) but it passes, literally and figuratively.

You're going to be okay!

I have tried the l glutamine powder too it seems to help. Also, resting. Ginger pills. And/or Immodium. Sorry people are such jerks. :(

I always give my kids tylenol when we get glutenated. It seems to help, along with lots of water.

I've read 1% of people will get our diet, and we are to worship the ground they walk on.

I used to think epsom salts were a posh fancy baking ingredient, and I often wondered why they were in the personal care section of shops.

Above poster, you're spot-on.

Welcome to the forum, @LimpToeTheTimeless Bone growth plates close in the late teens to early twenties, so it's doubtful you'll grow much taller, but you may start to bulk up in muscle.  Remember to boost your absorption of vitamins and minerals needed to build muscle by eating a nutritionally dense diet and supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals, especially Thiamine B1, to counteract the malabsorption caused by Celiac Disease. Keep us posted on your progress! Fermentation breaks down some of the gluten in wheat. Nowhere enough for a wheat dough to become gluten free, but the gluten may be significantly reduced. I think some pizzerias make the dough the day before and leave it overnight. The longer the microbes are acting on the flour, the better.

I am M 21 and I diagnosed myself after a week of fasting and slowly reintroducing stuff in my diet except gluten, I had terrible eczema scars ,dandruff and brain fog, now I am free after 6 years of just pain, I am 6'2, will I grow taller? And since I am a gymnast will my muscles grow like quicker, cause before no matter how effort I put in I just couldn't.

And the fact is, no two celiacs will necessarily respond the same to gluten exposure. Some are "silent" celiacs and don't experience obvious symptoms. But that doesn't mean no harm is being done to their gut. It just means it is subclinical.
