:D Hi,
I was wondering about these mi-del chocolate sandwich cookies it says they are wheat free on the front. On the back of the package insmall print it says all ingredients aresourced from gluten-free ingredients. Does that mean Gluten free? Why don't they just say so if it is? Please help cause I want to give them to my son with milk after school. There is no phone number on the package and it is made in Canada. Thanks :D

I am pretty sure those aren't gluten free. Their gluten-free cookies are gingersnaps, arrowroot, mini choc chip, mini pecan. Their gluten-free products are clearly labeled and would say GLUTEN FREE, not just WHEAT FREE. What are the ingredients? Are they made from barley instead of wheat?

THE ANSWER:
Okay, I just talked to the manufacturer. (201.843.8900) They said there are no gluten ingredients in the cookies--however, they are made in a facility with gluten grains, so they do not claim the product is gluten-free. So--I guess its up to you if you feel safe with them or not.

For future reference, Glutano makes an oreo type cookie. I'm not sure if its good--I've never had it. But you can ck it out here: My Webpage

:D Thanks so much. I will get the Glutano oreo cookie since it is for sure gluten-free. I don't want to risk it for my son with these mi-del ones. The other kids can eat them now, won't they be happy? I will probably have to order the Glutano ones or check and see if locale health food stores carry them. I appreciate your speedy answer. I will pull another after school snack out of my hat now:)

What you saw there on the mi-del stuff was a standard CYA statement. :-) Always gotta use your best judgement on those.

we use the Mi-Del sandwich cookies here and have no problems with them. It's just a CYA statement, but they are very careful. My daughter and I are both extremely sensitive and react to the smallest amt. of gluten and have never (knock on wood) had a problem with Mi-Del oreo type cookies.

Thanks for more info. Now what do I do? I guess I will still try the Glutano ones since we are still new at this and want to make doubly sure he isn't gonna react. It's those silly CYA statements that do me in everytime. Thanks again.

ILOVEOMC-
CYA's are hard...I guess its a matter of trusting the brand and if you or another has had a bad experience. Sure will be great when there is a defined/tested/enforced standard for gluten-free!
