My 15yo was having some chronic stomach issues and finally decided to go gluten-free for a bit before Christmas. Within a few days, all her symptoms were gone. With holidays, she decided to indulge and have gluten again and some stomach issues popped back up. She's been playing around with it a bit (we are going to see the doctor, but hard during Christmas holidays to get in) and so far, it seems that she has stomach issues if she eats wheat, but if she has something like Rice Krispies (has barley in it), no symptoms.
Is celiac a likely possibility? Or could it just be wheat?

As I'm in process of finding out-celiac, non celiac gluten intolerance, and allergies can all produce GI issues. Make sure she keeps eating gluten and wheat (provided no life threatening issues arise), make MD appointment to have blood tests for celiac and referrals for allergy testing and endoscopy if needed.
Gluten Free since October 2012
Negative blood work, positive dietary response
Endocrinologist offered referral to GI if I needed formal diagnosis to follow the diet, otherwise just pass on wheat, barley & rye
and save my money
