Last day of class. May have to plus myself excessively tonight to celebrate. :P

#608588 Itchy Ears

Posted by on 03 May 2010 - 01:00 PM

I too am an itchy ear sufferer. I have been gluten-free for 5 years and it has gotten MUCH better. I used to get ear infections chronically and also had eczema just at the entrance to my ear canal which would crack and bleed. It has gotten a lot better.

In 5 years since going gluten-free, I've had one ear infection instead of several a year and the eczema flares occasionally. When it does, I just use hydrocortisone cream.

Oddly enough - Itchy ears was a question my new diet doctor asked me today with regard to yeast/unfriendly bacteria overgrowth. Getting tested ASAP. I get through loads of q-tips!

The yeast connection also makes sense as I am flaring right now and I'm on antibiotics.

very interesting....my doc said it was from ear wax build up.

I think this contributes too as I have narrow ear canals and a LOT of wax.

Poor Kurt... . . . . . but this is phunnee. Bevel, you must go and participate in this conversation. Pretend that you are Peter O'Toole and he is your go-to man in the Arab National Council. Ask him what you should do about Damascus. . .. . . .

We conquered Damascus at 3 PM

I missed the whole "insulin" part of the post, just saw you talking about "the pump" and then asking Petah if he'd tried it......Needless to say, my mind went to a totally dirty place

And that is why we LOVE you! <SNORT>

SHIYTE! The largest post count ever on this phorum. We need to recognise this gargantuan flipover of our Pattteigh's.... .... . . .Bells, sirens......champagne needs to be flowing, dancers at the ready, cymbals and acrobats.. .....crap, where is that drunken jester, anyways??

And rock cakes!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SHIYTE is right. Patteigh- My God woman. And yet, I never pictured as the "talks too much in class" one out of us

Batten down the hatches!

#595836 Product Update

Posted by on 01 March 2010 - 04:17 PM

I have been on a gluten-free diet for the last five weeks. I'm still learning too many things the hard way.

ConAgra Foods would like to help you with this request to the best of our ability. However, because the information you have requested is considered to be proprietary and a trade secret of ConAgra Foods, we are unable to supply this information.

I am so sorry- their response was really lame and in my opinion, insufficient. We have EVERY right to know what is in our food. :(

#551787 Anyone On Cymbalta?

Posted by on 02 August 2009 - 08:09 AM

Thanks- yes I am in touch with all my doctors and have done a lot of reading. I think that I just wanted people to be aware that it's about as tough as benzo withdrawal (and I saw my sis go through that so I know how bad it is!).

If you google cymbalta withdrawal and do some reading, you will be horrified. And I really do have an open mind, but there are so many reports out there.

There's a whole "Depression Hurts, Cymbalta's worse" community out there.

#516357 Can't Stop Binging On Gluten!

Posted by on 09 March 2009 - 08:15 AM

Hey Rachel- I too was going to suggest you see someone. It might help you understand why you won't follow the diet.

If you're 20 years old and feel like that (no energy, motivation, depressed, weight gain and possible diabetes) it CLEARLY is affecting you!

Think of it as an addictive behavior- and you are certainly NOT alone in that. Please get help!

Bacon? Patteigh? Any left? can I come? Amanda, bring Silvia- she is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More time than NONE?!! ROFL! In my case more time baking wouldn't be long!

Beans and rice are cheap. :)

But Carla- I figured you baked cookies in a French maid outfit   Clearly NOT a 50's wife!!!!!!

Thanks for the reminder. Easy to get caught up in things that, in the long run, are unimportant. Really, the only thing that matters is the people who touch our lives

I'm glad at least one of us dope-slapped the rest of us with this reminder!!!!!! Thanks Em :)

I ended up at this beautiful little cove and walked along the edge of the water. Roosters off in the distance. The trickle of water down the hill, finish its journey to the sea. The smallest slap of waves as the last of the ocean's power dissipated against the shore.

I'm gonna try to find it again this morning.

Sounds heavenly (uhm...has anyone told you you're a talented writer too?). wait for me or I can just meet you there!!!!!!!!!

Emily- I LOVE your new avatar!!!!!!! Omg, I bawled when they gave out the medals. The Olympics (especially horses) turns me into a blubbering mess. So many happy childhood memories!

I can actually visualize this - - an enormous pipe organ playing away, a rising crescendo of voices, gyrating, swaying bodies in burgundy robes......

The Farewell Hymn to Jess's Uterus.......

... . . Too early in the morning to be thinking lyrics... .... .....

A eulogy of sorts- or is it's Ben Stiller's eugoogly in Zoolander   Bet you guys didn't know I was such a good eugooglizer

The moral is.....
If you don't let a woman have her own way....
Things are going to get ugly

  Ain't that the truth?

I also forgot to mention, my mom got another child yesterday, also a boy who is 2 yrs old his name is Ethan so now she has Ethan and Alan.....I think that is funny!

 It's o great that your mom does this!!!!!!!!!!

 Weezee told me to tell you taht she is in LOVE wif Angus.........my gawd, look how CUTE he is!!!!!!!!
we WILL get back to normal........but alas, we have to realize there will always be pain and loss.....and my goodness, we've been phollowing each others' lives for......quite a while now....... :) but sadly, there WILL be more loss and grief in our midst .........that's why it's good we are here.

I agree- we WILL get back to normal. Life can be hard, really hard, but the beautiful things make the pain bearable.

Angus sends kisses- his girlfriend Cassie is staying with us for four days

An endoscopy.... <_<

Gah- what a freaking week! Sarah's situation, Jess's surgery, Patti's endoscopy ( you do NOT have refractory sprue but it's good they're going to check). I hope your results are GOOD. I get PICC'd on Friday but am feeling better about it now.

We need Em's dad, Uncle ray and our founder Richard!!!!!

Our Sarah is back! Stupid Christmas glutenings

Bevvie wevvie!!! :D

Nikki--you poor thing :( The flu is awful--I hope it doesn't last long....take care, get lots of rest and don't forget the chicken soup ;)

I also need to go on a diet--way too much candy and cookies as of late--and all this talk of marshmallows, caramel and toffee is not helping  M-m-m...toffee.....

Love The Sound of Music! If I had to choose, I would say "My Favorite Things" is my favorite song from it, but all of the music was so good.

Patti called me Bevvie wevvie- I LOVE that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In 2008, I will outlaw:
glutenings and all other food intolerances
stomach flu
man flu
man colds
projectile vomiting
weight gain of any kind

OMG- Lyme is making me chubby and brain dead.....seriously, ever since i stopped uhmm....upchucking on a tri-dailly basis, I've put on like 10 [pounds. Feel like a Lymie COW!!!!!!!!!!!!

She actually spent Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the following day with her biological mom...and when my mom picked her back up at Child Services on Thursday, she found out the baby hadn't had a change of clothes the entire time she was "home" My mom peered in the diaper bag at all the clean clothes she sent, it was obvious none had ever been touched. Then the one pair of pajamas that she must have worn her whole visit, were literally pitch black....eww! My mom dunked her in the bath tub the minute she got her home.

So after my rant...sorry had to get that off my chest. So I saw her and we all gave her presents on Saturday. She is such a pleasant baby...she has been in the system since birth...her mom has supposedly done almost everything that she needs in order to get her child back. But when the baby's father comes along (mom's boyfriend) she forgets about the baby...even leaving it alone for hours...and now the baby comes back to us dirty. So I guess if the mom screws up again the baby will go for adoption. So in my eyes, why not allow her to keep screwing up and let the baby go to a family who wants her....an adoptive home. The system will keep delaying it and delaying it and by the time she is ready for adoption she could be 3 or 4...if not older and than her chances of getting adopted get smaller and smaller...people want babies. I know some people need those chances to prove themselves but look at the best interest of the kid....give her half the chance to have a great life....

Sorry for the rant.

OMG- I would rant too! She's so cute. I was adopted and i feel so fortunate

hmmm, I like Chicago. But I felt this way ^ about Moulin Rouge, so I guess I can relate.

Oh Lordie- hated Chicago! And only made it through the first 10 minutes of Moulin Rouge.......too confused. may be it would be more understandable while drinking absinthe!

Susie called Christopher Plummer DELICIOUS! Now that's cute!!!!!!!!!!

Also wanted to poop in and say HAPPY NEW YEAR"S EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's already 2008 in Nikki land! Wonder if she's drunk. :P

6. After that, taste one of those babies! Fresh hot chocolate chip cookies are so good right out of the oven! Repeat until dough is used up.

This is my favorite part of the recipe- eat out of bowl until dough is used up!

Please keep away from the gluteny goodies. Remember, gluten = poison. Please don't poop to death, we would all miss you! :P

     AGREED! Pooping to death=bad.

I was skimming this and I swore it said underwear repairs....It took me a few minutes to let it sink in I was wrong. Underwear repairs can you imagine??/

I love that story but you can you imagine UNDERWATER underwear repairs!

Jestgar- Your new avatar is crazy funny and cool!

Oh my.....the crown jewels of both genders must be protected at all costs! :P My BIL had a vein(?) clot in one of his and no lie it swelled to the size of a grapefruit. I will NEVER forget it (even though I didn't see).

A little VD humor:

Worst thing to say on a first date

I used to have a real bad bedwetting problem ... but the last couple of weeks I've gotten it under control.

I know we just met and this might seem a little sudden ... but could I borrow five hundred dollars?

Go ahead and Super Size - I found spare change in the sofa today.

Something tells me that you're very special ... but with medication I can usually ignore it.

I don't see my ex-girlfriend that much ... thanks to the U.S. Department of Justice."

Do you want to play doctor? That'll be five hundred dollars.

Wait till my wife hears about this!

I had a good time tonight. I'd love to see you again in six to eight months with good behavior.
