Dr Said Its Not Coeliac...

24 April 2004 - 09:04 AM

Just wondered if anyone knows if it is possible to have a false positive blood test?
My GP tested me positive for coeliac, but when i saw a specialist to arrange a biopsy he said he doesnt think it is coeliac.

he said it may have been a bug i caught while i was travelling in indonesia 2 years ago...he also said i am too healthy to be coeliac...

anyone else experience this kind of thing? or know about false positive blood tests?

thanks

GF in the UK

20 March 2004 - 03:55 PM

I am new to the gluten-free diet.
I thought I would post for any UK poeple out there!

I am currently working my way through Tescos "Free from" range. Some things are good - like the crackers, but some are not so good -like the bread rolls. but i think i will just have to get used to them!

i went to somerfields and although they dont have much, the woman that works there was helpful - as she is GI too - and suggested Sainsburys. apparently they have alot of frozen things in their gluten-free range.

hope this helps anyone from the UK and a big thank you to everyone else, USA and everywhere for this forum!

 smiling more each day - one step at a time!

New To This And Don't Know Where To Start...

19 March 2004 - 01:44 PM

I was diagnosed 2 days ago and I am so lost and confused.
I've given the contents of my food cupboard to my house mates and now they think I am mad.

I have decided not to tell anyone about my celiac disease. House mates know and my parents, but i don't want to tell anyone else. Not because I am embarassed or anything, I just can't be bothered to explain it to people. I can't even explain it myself yet - I'm just not ready to tell anyone.

Has anyone else kept their celiac disease a secret? Just wondered if it is possible?
