Meal Ideas For Hospital Stay

27 February 2008 - 02:12 PM

Hi!

This will be my second child but first gluten-free pregnancy and delivery .

I have done my research and determined that I shouldn't trust the dietician and kitchen at the hospital and should prepare my own meals in advance to take to the hospital. Btw, it will be c-section so the stay will be 3 to 4 days.

What did you do when you were admitted to the hospital? I'm thinking I need to take a mini-fridge and microwave with me. Boy, won't they love to see me coming!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Does Anyone Farm?

29 January 2008 - 09:33 AM

Hi!

I grew up farming in west-central Ohio. After years from being away from it, my husband and I bought a small farm in south-west Ohio. We are going to put out a hay crop in 2008 and possible pasture some feeder sheep this year too. I'd also like to get some chicks for laying hens.

Is there anyone else out there with celiac who farms? I'd like to hear from you and get some tips on what I need to be aware of when it comes to feed and everything really.

So, hope there are still some farmers out there! :D

Glutened But No Symptoms

21 January 2008 - 11:29 AM

Hi! I really need some wisdom from the forum.
We dined out Saturday at Carrabba's and I ordered my usual. I took my digestive enzyme and a lactaid pill.

The gluten-free sicilian chicken soup came and it was cold, so I sent it back. The new hot soup came back; I took 3 or 4 bites and then noticed that the soup had pasta in it (it was all the way at the bottom). I didn't eat any of the pasta, only the broth. I was stunned, I couldn't believe it was happening. I almost cried. All I could think was that the next 2 to 3 weeks would be horrible with pain (primarily pancreas and gallbladder working overtime to digest anything).

It's Monday and the pain is almost unnoticable. Have I misdiagnosed myself? I should be miserable. What do you think? Is it possible that I've healed enough that I'm only scratching the surface?

Btw, 13 months gluten-free, I am finally gaining weight, self-diagnosed.

Thanks to anyone with advice.
Kim
