hey all. been diagniosed in 2004. i'm 18 and from Australia. I like to play Rugby union for my club and unit (3 RAR), that's about all the free time i get! Training and drills are most of my time, although i get to use the base's computers for about an hour each day.

It is hard to find someone who understands you (none of my dates had any sort of intolerence to any food, and i kept getting funny looks). When i was at school (finished 2006) my friends, at first, didnt even know what gluten was, then decided it would be cool to see my reaction if they fed me wheat (i didnt take offense, its just what mates do). Then they accepted it and even started helping me find the right foods (one of my mates got me into some really cool protein supplements). It's alot harder for me now that I'm in the defence force (the DI kept throwing bread at me until i explained the reason why i get different food), but I've never been happier; I'm the first coeliac (thats how we Aussies spell it) to get into a para-infantry unit (3 RAR), and hopefully the first coeliac to get into the 4th Battallion Royal Australian Regiment Commando Division.

Hey all! I'm from Queensland but I'm currently based in Sydney. I was diagnosed with coeliac's at age 14 (2004). I only had the tests done because my sister had it and so my family decided to get tested as well. just recently (last year) i applied for, and was accepted, into the Australian Defence Force, which is quite an achievement (before you could not join if you had any dietary intolerences). I was just wondering if anyone else, anywhere in the world, had gotten into their respective armed services. BTW I'm in the 3rd Battallion Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR), it's a parainfantry unit based in Sydney (i always get a some dirt thrown on me when it's State of Origin time :P )
