In Topic: Leg Pains?

12 January 2009 - 05:23 PM

I was wondering if anyone else has delt with severe leg pains with the Celiac? My daughter (2.5) has been have leg cramps for about a year. she will twist her hip and lock her legs and stay that way for up to 30 mintues. her doctors first thought just growing pains for a while, but when she saw her normal doctor she asked right away why she was walking funny. She has had xrays of the leg, normal, and bone denitsy test that showed that she is in the 25% of density. She complains all the time that her legs hurt, walking funny (almost like she doesnt bend her knees), and hates walking up and down stairs, and does not bend her knee all the time when she jumps. i feel so stressed out trying to find out whats wrong. she is on the low end on all her nutrional values too!! just trying to find a answer. we have a meeting in Chicago (we live in Columbus OH) on Monday with a new GI Celiac disease specialist, so hopefully we can get some answers. i hope i am not just being overbarring of my daughters help. any suggestions would help. Thank you so much, i love this celiac blog, it is so helpfull!!

My son is 3.5 yrs and has been complaining of leg pains for over a year, at first my dr blew this off and did not think it was anything, she said to keep a journal to see what time of day he complained and if it was one or both legs, etc. Well, when he started complaining again we did blood work and x rays etc, and everything came out OK, so we never really did get an answer, but he doesn't really complain anymore, just once in a blue moon, and I still don't know what's causing it. But he does not have an altered gait or anything. Good Luck getting your answers, I hope your dr will be find something more definitive, we just ruled out a few bad things, but never got to the root cause of it. It seems like that happens alot.

In Topic: What's Best For Constipation?

04 September 2008 - 02:24 PM

Well, we went to my mom's today and while I was at the grocery store, he had an accident, a BM in his underwear, I didn't even care that he had an accident, I was just glad he went. She said it was seedy, that is because, I feed him bumble bars, and they really help him go. I just wanted to share the bumble bar tip with anyone else having constipation issues. I read all your tips and some I have tried, like the mineral oil, that did help, we tried that a couple of yrs ago, but I read that it can block mineral absorption from the GI tract so I wish I had not given it. I don't want them to be dependant on laxatives, I rather try to natural approach, so I think I will try the naturalcalm. Also I have trouble getting him to his probiotic, so I may try to powder form. I do feed him raw veggies and fruits and beans and anything I think will help him go, he getting dairy only on occasion. thanks for all responses.

I'll share with you my daughter's favorites, she is a picky eater too. Most days it's van's gluten-free waffles toasted, with sunflower seed butter on it. she loves this, if allowed she could have this for breakfast and lunch. she also likes glutino, ritz-like crackers with peperoni on them. ham rolled up like a cigar. she likes the k-toos oreo like cookies, but she likes the white ones. I know there is more, but I just woke up and can't think to clearly right now. Happy eating!

Hello, I am from colorado and have been gluten free for a few months now due to living in pain for the past 6 years. First off I am not the best speller in the world so please excuse me hehe ..
I have always have had little health and body issues growing up .. female issues sense i was 13 .. surgery when i was 17 for sists .. Just alot of little issues . After I had my second child witch was a very diffcult birth leading to a emergency c-section. I was dealing with such horrible pain.. Where it started in my joints and spread thru out my body leaving me basically exhuasted and in pain all the time .. Depression and fogness often happened.. Basically started hiding my self because i was never well enough to do anything .. No one of course seemed to understand i seemed healthy no reason why i should be hurting so bad i coulndt move and when i did i was in tears.. Finially after 6 years of dealing with this I went to a natrulist doc who suggested I have a serve allergy to gluten.. I am still in the healing phase and seemed to have picked up a slight dairy allergy now but as my doc said it will be temp.
It is nice to find a forum where people understand and dont look at ya like you have two heads when you explain your issues.. I just wanted to introduce my self and thank you all for leanding support to eachother cause it is so needed..
Thank you all :)
