Ellie's Gluten Free Bakery Great Place!

12 June 2015 - 03:57 AM

Took a short road trip yesterday with a really good freind to a gluten free bakery in Upstate NY.

While a bit hard to find it was well worth the trip. We tried almost everything they had and it was all so good. They only do gluten free and are also soy free.  They have pizza, pies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins (the banana choc chip is to die for), breads (sandwich and Italian, I ate almost all the Italian loaf for dinner last night) and they will do special orders if folks need egg free or Vegan.

If you are near Rochester do make a trip. It will be well worth it. We loaded up on enough pastries to keep me happy for a long time. I portioned a lot of it and froze but will likely still gain 10 lbs in the next month.

I don't know if they ship stuff but they do have a website that might give that info.

Did I Get A Bad Loaf?

02 May 2015 - 01:42 AM

They were out of Udi's at the store so I had to get something else. Canyon Bakehouse has always gotten good reviews so I figured I would try it. The taste was okay but it seemed really doughy almost like it wasn't quite done baking. Has anyone else noticed this or did I just get an loaf that got by the bakers?

Big Lots

17 March 2015 - 01:13 AM

I have recently been checking out my local Big Lots store and am amazed at how much gluten-free stuff they are getting in. Bags of Glutino wafer cookies, full size bags, for a dollar. Pastas, crackers, cookies and more. Most are considerably less than at my local grocery store, some not so much like Snyders pretzels are only 20 cents cheaper but still that is 20 cents saved. If you have one near you it is worth checking out.

Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers

26 December 2014 - 04:50 AM

Just found these in my local Wegmans. They come in 3 flavors. I got the cheesy one. Thought they were pretty good. Bigger than I remember gluten goldfish being but that's okay by me.
