Help! Always Bloated

01 October 2007 - 03:02 PM

I had a positive biopsy and negative blood tests. My GI told me to try the diet for 3 months and if I wasn't improving that it was IBS. I've been gluten-free for 5 months my legs cramp have stopped and I have more energy. I'm following the diet very strictly but I still get bloated and constipated no matter what i eat. I've tried probiotics and every otc med there is. I've even tried eating smaller meals gone off dairy. I thought this would have improved by now. I'm starting to think it isn't celiac at all. Is there something else that could cause this? What can I do I've tried eveything!

Any One Get Muscle Cramps?

21 August 2007 - 11:04 AM

I had a positive biopsy but all my blood tests were normal. My GI said to try the diet FOR 3 MONTHS and if I didn't get better than it was IBS (he says its one of the two but can't be sure which one). He didn't even ask me to come in for a follow up. I went to my family doctor for a second opinion who gave me a food allergy test. It was normal so should told me to go off the diet. As soon as I went off the diet I started getting leg cramps at night again, but other than that didn't feel any worse (I don't get sick after eating gluten). I went back on it after a few weeks of lots of gluten. I've been gluten-free for about a month now. I have had no leg cramps but still have the gas/bloating. I don't get diarrhea just constipaton. Does this sound like celiac or are the cramps just a coincidence. I had the leg cramps when I was young but never had any GI symptoms. They stopped for years and just recently came back shortly after my GI problems started. My doctor never told me what could have caused the biopsy to be positive if it wasn't celiac.

What Else Could Cause A Positive Biopsy?

Reactions

I had a positive biopsy and negative allergy/blood tests. I'm supposed to be trying the gluten-free diet for 3 months to see if it's true. I don't think it is because I know there were times when ate gluten and never had a reaction and there are times i have reactions when I know I've had no gluten. I've been on and off the diet (because my doctors have different opinions) and couldn't tell much of a difference either way. Why would I still have symptoms with gluten free foods?

Can A Biopsy Be Wrong?

20 July 2007 - 01:33 PM

My biopsy was positive but all the blood tests and food allergy test were negative. I've been on and off the diet and saw no difference either way. I don't get sick every time I eat gluten. My family doctor says I don't have it because the food allergy was negative my GI says it's either celiac or IBS Could the biopsy be wrong?
