Hi all! Maybe Joe's doctors knew him well enough to know they couldn't really control all that he did to himself at home and other places. So they just did the best they knew how with medicines to treat all the stuff he did to himself. Someone else said many of the pills may have been vitamins and minerals in individual pills. Just another idea Cheers, Ruth S. Strack2004

celiac3270, I'm happy for you, too. It must be wonderful! If that sounds a little wistful, it is, I'm headed for Mayos on April 13 to see if they can find what ails me. Cheers, Ruth - Strack 2004. I see there is another Ruth who posts.

Hi! Yes I have been on the SCD diet for 6 almost 7 months.. I have lost weight and for a time I had a lot more energy. I still sleep fairly well except for waking for the bathroom. I drink too much water in the evening. The diet never did really help my digestive problems. Have just spent 5 days in the hospital over them. Fortunately this hospital had a plan whereby patients can pick their meals from a restaurant like menu. I was interested to see on another post some comments about possibly getting into trouble after losing weight. I have gone down from around 150 lbs. at the b eginning of last summer, to between 120 and 125. The Dr. isn't worried about it. Digestion wise, I am awakened during the night or from a nap and sometimes during waking hours with an alarming burning that seems to go up from a sore place under my right ribcage up into my throat. The burning comes to a peak and recedes to a steady burn. In the hospital I had an upper gastroscopic exam which located the sore spot under my ribs. It is not an ulcer. Biopsies were taken, Also was tested for H. Pylorus which came back negative. Am presently taking cytotec, 4 times a day with meals, lexipro, and Prilosec. Was supposed to take Protonix, but my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Anyway, had taken that for the better part of a year without significant help. Also had a colonoscopy which showed what I already knew that I have an overlarge bowel that is very floppy. One X-ray I had along time ago showed the upper right hand corner flopped over on itself. To my mind this could cause a backup of stool that would account for my constipation thing. I guess I get worried that this cytotec could back up in my system. So I called the Dr. and he said to cut the dose in half. This is getting long again. I was feeling some better, but now am worse again. Strack. p.s. was never diagnosed with celiac, just use the diet because it is also supposed to be good for other digestive problems.

celiac3270, I didn't realize that you had been hospitalized. I am glad to hear that you are home again after your second hospital visit and pray that this surgery will be the answer for you. Cheers, Ruth S. Strack 2004
