Letter To Your Local Grocery Stores

Hi all, I just found this on the Kinnikinnick website and thought some of you who order gluten-free food from them might be intereseted. It's a generic letter to grocery store managers that tells them why they should consider selling the kinnikinnick products in their stores. There is room on the letter as well for you to include your comments/suggestion.

It's a easy way to get your gluten-free products locally.


Genetically Altered Wheat

This is a link to an article by MSNBC. It doesn't talk about celiac at all, but it's probably a lucky thing for us that this new genetically altered wheat isn't going to hit the market after all. I can only imagine how many companies that now produce gluten-free goods, might have switched to this new wheat if it was cheaper and more readily available.

Anyway. I just thought it was interesting reading.

Okay all you fabulous gluten-free cooks out there here is the deal.... as some of you know I have been putting together recipes for some time now to put out cookbook. So far, I have nearly 100 recipes, but I would like to get a few more before I present it to the publisher. So if any of you would like to contribute, I'd love to hear/read your suggestions/recipes.

Please keep in mind that my book is not exactly like the books on gluten-free cooking you find now on the market, mine is more about (somewhat upscale, but not advanced) cooking with fresh ingredients, and it's going to include the following sections:

• Breakfast cookery
• Appetizers
• Salads (for sides/Apps/Entrees)
• Sides
• Entrees for Entertaining
• Elegant desserts
• Miscellaneous recipes (vinaigrettes/flavored oils/ spice blends for meat and chicken)

Teaching Sections:
• Stocks, the most important tool
• Roux
• Cooking oils
• Herb Identification
• Cooking with potatoes
• What’s that? (a guide to not-so-well-known veggies & fruits)

Obviously these are subject to deletion or modification, but it's a great start, so please feel free to offer any suggestions.

Carnation Instant Breakfast

I just called the company and all flavors of carnation instant breakfast with the exception of the malt flavor are gluten free!! So if you need a quickie breakfast idea and you can tolerate milk, there you go!

Works great for kids breeakfast too!

Hi All,

This isn't really related to anything celiac, but I though it might be fun to pass around fun ideas for things to do with our kids for Valentine's Day. We printed off our own cards for my son to hand out in his class and this website DLTK's Printable Crafts has some really cool cards and gift tags, they also have templates for making your own treat bags.

Please offer any other suggestions you might have, this is a fun holiday and the kidlets really get into it, plus what better way to spend a litte quality time with our children without having to stress over the diet!
