#829564 Glutened By Vapors

Posted by msmini14 on 13 October 2012 - 03:38 PM

Gemini and Irishheart. I did not respond to this post to stir up everyoneís opinions. I simply felt the need to stand up for someone who had feelings. She had valid feelings about having issues with the vapors. Who knows, maybe being around that aroma all day caused her to have a headache the following day. Regardless if she was right or wrong they were her feelings.
Please donít forget how it was for you going gluten-free years ago. Sometimes we have gotten so sick we grasp for straws and try to figure out what caused it. And like I said before any newbie reading this post could think, ďI can be affected by vaporsĒ so again I understand why people said this was a mental issue.
And I am not over sensitive. Trust me. It takes a lot for something or someone to offend me. I only stopped posting on this site because I donít feel the need for support anymore. I do however try to comment on things when people are in need of support. But I have been so busy I donít have the time to come here that often.
So, Gemini please donít jump to conclusions about my personality regarding being overly sensitive. You donít know me.
:) :)

After reading all of the comments and being a member on this board for a few years I have a couple of comments for this post.

1. From my understanding Chopper was venting about their glutening and just wanted some support. This is a support group.

2. I understand why people reacted the way they did. If newbies come on this site and read vapors glutened someone they are going to assume the same can happen with them.

3. I myself know that I have over reacted to situations and have felt like I have been glutened but I wasnt.

4. I can see why Chopper felt attacked on this board.

Please remember people have feelings and even if they are not relevant to you they are to the poster.

#703983 How Often Do You Cheat?

Posted by msmini14 on 30 May 2011 - 03:15 PM

I went gluten-free in february 2008, I ate gluten on purpose march of 08 because I couldn't resist and I didn't understand how important it was for me to eat gluten-free. Well after march of 08 I have never eaten gluten on purpose, it is not worth getting sick or any other affects that it takes on me.
It sucks because there are people out there who tell everyone they have celiac and then eat wheat. This causes some people not to take us seriously when we explain our situation.

#696221 Dannon Light And Fit Yogurt

I prefer not to eat Danon for this reason. I do enjoy yoplait and the Safeway brand lucerne. Others would say it is up to you and your comfort zone. At least Danon is honest with us.

#671496 Feeling Like An Outcast

I always bring my own food with me and most people say that my food looks better than what they are eating. Or I get the glare from some people, like their food isnt good enough.

I understand the social frustration, when I first went gluten-free I didnt go to any function that had food involved, was to hard for me. Now it isnt a problem.

Best thing to do it get out there, take your own food and enjoy your time out. Get used to doing this, it will seem like second nature soon.

If I cant microwave something bring a salad. That is my go to if I know I dont have a microwave. I put everything on it; eggs, bacon, cheese, bell peppers, onion, tomato, cucumbers, chopped walnuts.

And dont be afraid to talk about Celiac, people need to be informed so they can understand the issue. Some people will not want to hear you and they will never understand so be prepared.

Good luck to you, hope you can get out soon and enjoy your time out =)
