Topics I've Started

Joint Pain

19 April 2005 - 07:47 PM

Heya guys. For the last two weeks I've been having on again off again pain in my ankles, knees, and shins. Today my right wrist and elbow joined in and I'm starting to get concerned. I'm 18 with no other medical problems except for Celiac and lactose sensitivity. I've been gluten free for a year and a half and have sufferred from leg cramps for a while and started taking Calcium to help with those. I have been off the calcium for a while because I'm meeting with a new doctor this Friday and was hoping they could test me for vitamin deficencies to figure out if Calcium is really my problem. Do you think it is a vitamin thing that is causes my joints to ache? It has been getting progessively worse in a short time period. Have any of you experienced similar pain or have an explanation? I would appreciate your answers and hope my doctor will have some ideas too, it is starting to make it difficult to function normally. Thanks!

Teen Vogue

09 February 2005 - 06:47 PM

I was flipping through an article in the girl's magazine Teen Vogue written about Emmy Rossum. At one point in the interview they said,

"At tea, as Emmy guts a series of elegant little sandwiches (she eats only the insides since she's allergic to the gluten in the toast point), she . . ."

For those who don't know she is the young woman who played Christine in the movie version of "Phantom of the Opera" that came out this year. Sounds like she might have Celiac to me. I couldn't find a mention of it anywhere else but . . .

One Year!

16 January 2005 - 03:08 PM

I have now been Gluten Free for one year, officially. It feels like forever and a day. It's gotten a lot more natural but it is still odd to consider that this is a life long committment. This is my post of success, I survived!

National Public Radio

My aunt found this online at NPR's site. You can't read the transcript but you can listen to the interview. It is pretty interesting and seems factual and informative. Enjoy.

Stress

27 November 2004 - 05:37 PM

It seems everytime I get really stressed and busy I have "mini gluten attacks," do you think it is at all related to celiac disease? I understand it might just be IBS, the symptoms just seem really similiar. I am sure I am not getting any new gluten or being contaminated, unless Paint or stage make-up contains gluten. Even then I don't normally react topically. I am a bit confused and losing weight because I am simply too busy to eat if it will make me sick. I'm just not sure what to do.
