ps...for those reading along...most folks improve with the complete removal of gluten within the first year.

 

for some it can take more to heal the damage caused by celiac disease...once this happens they usually get many more foods back in their diets.

I am  doing more  research than a freaking scientist does I feel at the moment. I keep saying onward and upward but wow.. Just when you feel you figure this mess out,,, bam!!

 

Been there, done that and still am. 

 

I could have written your exact post many times...as recently as a year ago.

 

For better or worse we have learned to never think we have solved the complete puzzle...I have had three major periods of improvement since diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2009.  Each was followed with a flare that was worse than any previous flare which made us beyond frustrated that each time we thought we had the solution I was struck back down.

 

What I have learned after the last two periods that I call my "Human Amoeba" stages (months of severe flare and brain fog that becomes brain numb along with loss of all use of muscles and tremendous joint pain) that I need to accept making adaptations to my world while continuing to research and work with the best doctors I can find to gain more usable hours in the day.

 

How's that for a bummer?  Amazingly, I remain extremely hopeful and eager to learn as much as I can about how this silly body of mine works -- added bonus is my kids and grands all have symptoms similar to mine throughout my life so I am excited that their lives will be greatly improved by what I continue to learn.

 

Hang in there and keep researching...none of us is identical, but many of us have common symptoms and issues.  You aren't alone in this struggle.

In my opinion, those that do not improve with strict removal of gluten after six months need to find what the right group of foods is for them.  It took me nearly four years to find the optimum foods for me....beyond frustrating, but worth the effort.

ski - we had a mega water balloon launcher at the racetrack in syracuse (fairgrounds) one year.  it would launch all the way across to the other side of the track.  THOSE people were surprised, too!!  (and WET hahahhaaaa!!)

That would have been welcomed at California ... Especially the Labor Day race used to be hot as hell...I paid 25 bucks one season for the water truck to fill a kiddy pool...everyone laughed at me until they ended pulling their camp chairs to the edge to dangle their feet in my pool! Made the water too dirty for the toddler racetrack neighbor...but fun for all the other kids :)

Okay guys, let's please reign this in here. Back to the original question.

Happyplace, Unless it has been totally shot down, I would open conversation with the school administration back up. You may be able to ask for your child to be sat away from the peanut allergic child(ren) and while you won't blatantly send nut items there, not worry about shared facilities, etc. Bottom line is you can't let your kiddo starve and have a non-balanced diet and there has to be a better solution that can be reached with more understanding of everyone's needs.

I also think Happyplace can appreciate how tough it is to navigate these problems and likely appreciates the information provided.

I'm dining out of my go bag. Mom was transferred from hospital to rehab and caught a nasty bug along the way...so I'm sticking with her for now until her lungs clear.

So almonds, Justin's chocolate almond butter, astronaut veggie/fruit squeezes along with tons of coffee ;)

PS...I think Sandie dog has a future as a therapy dog...she has been making folks here in the rehab/skilled nursing facility happy all day.....even had a nice fellow become animated and tell us a great old doggie joke...will share later.

You know I can't do soy sauce or soy flour, but that small amount of soy lecithin does not bother me and I thought the Gratify brand was very good.
Snyders's too. (J prefers those) 
 
 
Dinner tonight is looking like our old pal Chebe Pizza .....and a movie. Storms are rolling in....


Pretzels with white choc chips keep calling my name!

Dinner tonight is meatloaf and mashies along with something green.

Picked up a few supplies for a mini celebration...vodka, lemoncello and superfine sugar for the rims of martini glasses...no whining tonight :)

I'm cooking a chicken tonight. In all my 32 years of life, I have never cooked a chicken before. But my kitty cat is part of the family and I want him to have homemade food too sometimes. So I'm taking the plunge and hoping that the chicken turns out okay. And considering that the cat is the only one who's going to eat it (and I've never seen him salt and herb a wild animal before eating it) he probably shouldn't be too hard to please. :P
 
Initially, I was going to buy the cat an organic chicken until I saw the price tag of $20. So I bought him a free range chicken for $5. Hopefully he enjoys it.


I say bake it...and if it's a whole chicken packaged with giblets...boil and chop those....cat will love you....well until you do something to disrupt its purrfect world ;)

The donuts were made using the recipe from this website: http://freeeatsfood....salted-almonds/
The glaze was a honey/powdered sugar glaze and then I added a tbsp of cocoa powder to get the chocolate glaze. The flour I used in the recipe was a new flour I have never used before.. it was given to me by my best friend after she went to Bend, OR. Apparently her friend's roommate started a gluten-free flour company called AKulinary Innovations. It worked really well. It had xanthan gum already in it so I was kinda worried. But it worked out!

Bumping Jamie's post because these baked donuts are awesome...all this donut talk made me search for this recipe...time for some sinful chocolate glazed donuts again around here.

Dinner is something in KFG....not feeling great so dumping some meat in there seems like an excellent plan to me ;)

Just in case: people with mastocytosis are completely intolerant to all alcohol and fermented foods/drinks.
Another tip: kosher alcohol is grain free.


What? People with Masto are indeed intolerant of many things....including certain libations, yet the intolerance of alcoholic and fermented items is not a hard and fast rule.

My own body creates too much histamine and other amines in reaction to exercise, external heat, humidity and sunlight.... along with numerous foods and environmental concerns....yet I can drink red wine...sometimes to abundance.

There are no blanket statements with mast cell or autoimmune issues.

I do believe you may benefit from a gluten and histamine free diet...but this is a celiac forum.

Please be careful to understand all aspects of celiac before making blanket statements.
