I Was So Hungry And Afraid I Am Really Sad Right Now

10 June 2009 - 09:51 AM

I am feeling really sad right now. I have never experienced hunger like today. I took my 10 year old daughter to a dr appt. this morning about 8:30 am. However, I decided to eat some rice chex with rice milk before leaving 8:am. I actually ate 2 bowls to ensure that I would be alright. I am SO GLAD THAT I DID!!!!!!! Around 11:30, we were racing down the subway stairs (15 steps) and all of a sudden I felt exhausted. I started shaking and trembling all over and felt extremely hungry. A hunger like no other. The train came and we reached our stop. I was out of breath, walking very slowly up the stairs and by the time I reached the top I had to lean on my daughter for support. She was concerned and so was I!! I felt as if I was going to fall out. I have not been diagnosed by a dr but I know that I do have celiac disease. And I am not sure that I would want to consume foods that are harmful just to be diagnosed. I am a vegan for 3 years because of food allergies and now somethings else.....DAMN IT!!!! I was afraid and I am now. I know deep down inside that I am going to be ok!! But OMG, the need to deal with this is unbelievable. I ate some veggies and brown rice last night and experienced shortness of breath, intense itching, abdominal pain and discomfort blah blah blah. Anyway, I am grateful that there is somewhere like this site that I can vent, get the info and encouragement i need to move towards healing and wholeness
Thank you

Black Pepper The Silent Ingredient

09 June 2009 - 06:45 AM

Good morning everyone,

So its been about a week since being on the wheat, gluten and soy free diet. Yesterday, I went to a healthfood market and I purchased a rosted veggie pie that was wheat, soy and gluten free. I asked the gentlemen if there were any other ingredients that I should know about and of course he said NO. Well, alittle while after eating the pie my stomach felt like hot burning acid and painful. I called the store and spoke the chef and of course he assured me that it wasn't the pie. He gave me a run down of the ingredients and at the end of the list he stated "black pepper as an ingredient". I was shocked. How could a healthfood store not know that black pepper is not good for the digestive system; red pepper is best!! this ingredient is a definite NO No especially for ME. My stomach is still chruning and burning and its sour but not as bad as yeasterday. Also, I am very tired and itching all over inclluding anal. Despite the above I am ok because it could be worse. Does anyone else experience the above symptoms or is it just me!! Please respond!

Vegan Who Believes She Has Celiac Disease

05 June 2009 - 07:15 AM

:( Hey everyone,
I am new to the community and I need help!!! I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia about 6 years ago. My life has changed dramatically. Over the last 3 1/2 years I've been a vegan however in the last 4 months I've noticed serious digestive problems. Even after being diagnosed with fibro and CFS I always felt there was something more to my illness. In this moment, i am unable to eat wheat, gluten, soy, acidic foods, coconut etc. I am at a lost. I am so freaking hungry but I am afraid to eat because of the pain i.e. burning, stabbing, bloating, acid reflux, diarhea, headaches, brain fog etc. I am a vegan what else am I suppose to eat. I wake up starving literally starving and I can't understand it. I am trying to figure this out!!! I went to Barnes and Nobles to buy a book of receipes for vegan who are wheat, soy and gluten free. The sales assistant looked at me as if I were crazy like dame "you are a vegan what else is there". Please help me figure this out. please help me with this thing. I am tired and hungry like right now my stomach is playing its own song. Any advice that is beneficial and geared towards VEGANISM would very helpful.

I wish the best health and recovery for all.
