In Topic: Who Is Responsible For Making Sure There's Something Safe To Eat?

22 November 2014 - 05:32 PM

It is hard to deal with someone when they are angry. But remember that this mom is probably overwhelmed. She may be reacting to her child's stress at not being able to eat what her friends are eating. I'm an adult and provide my own food, but still sometimes get frustrated with having to bring my own food. I don't expect others to provide food for me, but it just reminds me of the stress of having to think about everything I have to put in my mouth when everyone else is able to eat whatever they want and I can't. My church has been wonderful and has gotten gluten free bread for me for communion and put it in a little plastic bag for me so that I can participate without having to feel more different by bringing it myself. They just keep a bag of gluten-free bread in the freezer and take a slice out every Sunday we have communion. They didn't do this for me but the other day at work they had a staff meeting where they had apples and string cheese where usually they have bagels and cream cheese. It was so exciting for me to be able to participate. It would be thoughtful to do something as easy as single serving things that are gluten free like string cheese so she can participate and might make the mom feel like someone understands/cares about the stress she is feeling.

This isn't from any blood testing. I know I need to get that done. This is from effects on my body: insomnia, digestive trouble, muscle and joint pain, irritability, trouble concentrating. I'm guessing that I'm going to need to do a diet record. I know I should go to the doctor to get blood tests done, but I HATE going to the doctor as a kid we only went to the doc when we were really really sick. I had a gi doc when I got diagnosed, and then went to grad school, and now am working full time. I haven't gotten another GI doc as I now live in another part of the country. I should probably get my blood work done.

Thank you for the answer.

I'm not trying to over think it. I'm just trying to figure out where there is gluten getting into my body. It is definitely getting in and I have gone over again and again to try and find ingredients that might contain gluten, but everything is coming back clean. So trying to find other ways it might be sneaking in. And my kitchen is just me cooking and my kitties. I have transferred my cats to grain free food to get rid of that gluten floating around after the last cat food went from wheat free to adding wheat to their cat food. I haven't tried any new soaps or anything either. So I'm just searching

I use Immodium too. I use the liquid when able to because I feel like it calms my stomach faster than the tablet and it is tolerable taste wise. And I hate swallowing pills.

I had two doosies in the last couple of weeks, both from work. I had a colleague ask me if I could eat fruit salad (only had fruit in it, no toppings). Another situation: I had a supervisor (who has a MA) ask me if I could have white bread because she wasn't sure if it had wheat in it.
