About Me

I am 34 years old and I was diagnosed with celiac one year ago. Prior to that I had suffered from odd symptoms such as anemia, exhaustion, dry cracked skin, thinning hair and nausea. But the worst was yet to come. 18 months prior to my diagnoses I was stricken with horrible cramps and diarrhea. I was afraid to leave the house for fear of not being near a bathroom. I was frequently late for work, my son was often tardy also. I thought my symptoms might be related to celiac because my dad suffers from it as well.

I went to the Dr. and he said it was IBS even though I told him about my family history. He sent me on my way with an anti-spasmatic prescription and said to come back in 2 weeks. Obviously, the meds didn't work. When I told him that, he said he would send me to a GI specialist to be tested for celiac. He then suggested that he put me on anti-depressants in case my symptoms were stress related. Come on how can it be stressed when I am sick in the middle of the night? So, after the endoscopy and colonoscopy I finally had an answer. The GI doc said I was her first celiac patient. I was so relieved, I knew I was on the road to recovery.

So here I am a year later, learning to cook gluten free and feeling amazing!!! I have boundless energy. Unfortunately my marriage suffered a great deal. My husband had an affair because I wasn't meeting his needs for so long.
