Food Allergies Panel

Hi everyone,

I am still in process of testing for celiac. My blood test was done after I was gluten free for almost two month and the result was negative. Now it is very difficult to say if there were antibodies on the first place. It is also may be too late for biopsy – I am gluten free for 4 months. I have got a great improvement in health since I am gluten free, but I may be just gluten sensitive, not celiac. So far I’ve been diagnosed with vitamin K deficiency only.

My new GI ordered celiac genetics, vitamins B12 & D deficiency tests, and food allergy panel. I know I have negative reaction for some foods besides gluten (milk, corn, eggplants, etc). I still struggle to figure out what food makes me sick, and I am really looking forward to getting this test result. My question is:

If I have intolerance for some products, will the food allergy test show it? Will it be helpful for me to determine what I should avoid eating now, when my guts are so sensitive?

Thank you for your help; I don't know what I would do without this forum. That is the only place where I get help, at least until I am officially diagnosed.

Vitamin K Deficiency?

Hi,

I had most of the symptoms of gluten intolerance (celiac?) for at the last year. I've also straggled with my “guts” since I remember myself. I have family members that could fit the classical celiac description. This January I tried gluten free diet and all my symptoms were gone. Being on a gluten-free diet I was tested for celiac anti-bodies (blood test) and the result came negative. I am also easily bruising, and have had other symptoms such as bleeding gums etc. The blood test showed that I have a prolonged prothrombin time.

Now my doctor (hematologist) prescribed me vitamin K for 2 weeks. Next week they will test PT again. They also tested my liver but I don’t know the result yet.

Does it look that I can have celiac? Should I undergo other tests? I am not going to eat gluten in any event, I have a very negative reaction. If they confirm that I have vitamin K deficiency, should I see GI?

Has anyone had prolonged prothrombin time?
