A Tip For Eating At Regular Restaurants

16 June 2010 - 05:00 AM

Recently I went to Atlantic City for a friendís birthday and they decided to go to Corky's Ribs & BBQ in the Tropicana. When I ordered my salad the menu listed no croutons or anything breaded but I double checked with the waiter that there was no flour on the grilled chicken or on anything else in the salad because I am severely allergic (I say this just so they don't think I'm on a picky weight watching diet) he got very rude and said that it was a salad there was no flour anywhere.. Well needless to say when the salad came out there was a handful of croutons on the top and I needed to send it back..

Lesson learned: most don't realize what flour is in so you need to be specific and triple or even quadruple check!

Celiac Foundation Fundraiser In Philadelphia

24 May 2010 - 06:34 AM

I'm currently training for a half marathon and have been trying attending weekend fundraining walk/run events and noticed there are no celiac awareness fundraisers in or around Philadelphia (or at least none that i've heard of)
after a short search I found http://www.celiacwalk.org/ unfortunatly the closest one to me is in NY.
has anyone heard of anything celiac related in Philadelphia or south Jersey area or is looking to start something?
