I absolutely loathe, detest and despise coffee.   Nothing to do with my celiac diagnosis.  But I love the smell!  :P

Happy Labour Day to my North American friends!

Tonight I am making a simple mixed salad with a Dijon and red wine vinaigrette and fresh Balkans feta. Batter for rosemary socca (flatbread) is resting. I will drizzle with local olive oil and sprinkle with...you guessed it...local sea salt.

Blackberry lemon muffins for dessert. I picked the last of the berries and have frozen several bags which will be nice for "winter" baking.

Thank you!  It is nice to be back.  We have now had the internet up and running for a consecutive week!  Yay!!  :D

Colleen, of course... if you would like Croatia pictures, I would be happy to email you some, if I am able to choose from the 873,601,274 we have!

Hopefully you are all healthy and back to your normal selves.  :)

Tonight is:

Roasted chicken breasts with slow-roasted tomato, red pepper and onion sauce.  Chicken pounded thinly to cook evenly and to prevent from drying out.

Herb-roasted cauliflower

Cucumber coleslaw

Fresh blackberry tart which I am about to make.  :)

Yes, I am still in the honeymoon phase here  but it is so marvelous to have access to such amazing fresh foods here!  I love foraging for berries.  I would like to for all sorts of mushrooms, too, but will hold off until I can go with someone who knows what they are doing.  And white truffle season begins in about a month...sigh...my weakness!  ^_^  Well, one of my weaknesses!

So sorry to hear about those of you suffering from illness. I hope you are feeling better, even at this very minute.

Tonight we are having:

Zucchini ribbons with roasted garlic and tomatoes
Sweet and spicy meatballs
Fresh Balkans feta with lashings of Istria olive oil, olives, tomatoes and capers
Chocolate swirl peanut butter banana bread, with a hint of roasted cinnamon

Now am off to pick figs and wild blackberries!

I had to leave my professional grade KA behind in Canada when we moved to Croatia recently. It was one of the most difficult things to leave as it was irreplaceable but then I made tons of yeast breads, etc. It was absolutely essential. For the first month here I was without as Croatia does not carry them. We are 45 minutes from Italy and could not find them there, either. So, I have a professional Electrolux that is just as powerful and I use it regularly. I almost feel disloyal to my KA back in Canada! But I practically would not have survived without it, like Addy.
