Butter Replacement

28 June 2011 - 05:30 PM

Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows of an alternative to butter that does not contain - gluten, soy or dairy? If it's a lost cause, can you give me ideas on:
How to flavor my veggies so they are a little more enticing
How to replace butter in recipes appropriately/ get over not being able to eat buttery things

Any tips appreciated, even if it is "Suck it up, Buttercup!"

Soy Allergy- Your Honest Opinions?

23 June 2011 - 03:54 PM

I am just wondering your thoughts on this. I have been running on the assumption that I am gluten intolerant. All my tests were negative a year ago after being gluten free for 2 weeks. My symptoms did improve on a naturally gluten free diet. On some replacement foods my stomach had mild symptoms. When having gluten free deep fried foods I would have severely adverse reactions- fryers were confirmed absolutely contaminated with gluten so I figure it was a case of super contamination. However, recently I tried a gluten free soy beverage and had a massive week long reaction that seems to fit with a severe soy allergy based on some internet searches. I am wondering if maybe I have a soy allergy and not gluten intolerance at all because many gluten products have soy as well. Do you think I should try a purely gluten challenge (ie: shredded wheat (100% wheat)) to see if there is a reaction or not? I had another look at the ingredient list of all the items I tested out gluten on a year ago to see the reaction and they all had soy products in them as well.

Beverages- Gluten And Soy Free

11 June 2011 - 08:12 PM

I am hoping someone here could help me out with finding Soy and Gluten free alcoholic beverages. Is it just wine I can have or are there some cocktails I can have mixed up for me at the bar? I'd like to see some cans not cannots. I know beer, whiskey, rye, vodka and things mixed into coke are out. I know wine is just fine but I'm bored of wine and want something girly and fancy- any suggestions?

Gluten Free Recipe Challenge

30 January 2011 - 12:02 PM

Just thought I'd bring to everyone's attention (if it hasn't been already) the New Year, New You Challenge being held at http://www.everydayh...Living_20110130

The challenge is to submit gluten free recipe for the chance to win an ipod. If not for the contest, then go and have a look at the recipes already posted, some are pretty tasty sounding! It is shamefully only open to people in the USA, so I cannot enter because I'm Canadian but for the recipes and the fact that gluten free trending is making this diet that little bit easier... :)

Depression Or Oats?

12 December 2010 - 09:50 PM

Okay, so about 3 weeks ago me and my fiance of 7 years broke up. We are still living together (financial reasons). I have recently decided to try eating oatmeal (not the instant premix- normal oats "100% oats"). I seem to be doing fine in terms of gut but I am also feeling rather depressed and like I want to cry a lot. Is it an effect of possible CC or just me feeling crappy about being single again. I know you are not me and I'm really the only one who can answer it but maybe you guys can throw some opinions my way that can help me think it through further.
