I know they are both autoimmune disorders so I know someone can obviously have both. I'm wondering if there is any literature that states the percentage of people with Hashimoto's who have Celiac as well? My Mom, her twin sister, and my cousin (mom's twin sister's daughter)all have hashimoto's. My mom and cousin are both on a gluten free diet but are not super strict, especially my mom who cheats pretty frequently. My aunt goes back and forth, one minute she thinks she has a problem with gluten and the next she is eating regular gluten foods. It's a mess! My mom and my aunt also both struggle with anemia and my aunt just had a hysterectomy at age 49, she was EXTREMELY anemic before hand. My aunt also gets a rash on her belly. I really suspect celiac here, especially with the issues that me and my girls have dealt with so far. Oh yeah, their brother (my uncle) has type 1 diabetes and overall not really healthy. I'm just looking for statistics here since they seem to respond well to that. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure me and at least one of my daughter's has DH, my other daughter gets a rash but it's a little different so not sure about her's? I get it on my jaw line, hair line, and back. I also get mouth ulcer's which are a pretty good sign of a decent exposure for me. I'm wondering if ulcer's are more common with people that have DH?
I'm pretty sure I have DH. All my life I've had what I thought was acne around my chin and sides of face, except it was always itchy...acne is not supposed to be itchy. I also always had really itchy bumps on my scalp and around my hair line that I would literally itch until they bled. All has mostly gone away since being gluten free, except the bumps on my head will come back occasionally (prob from CC). Anyways, I've always had itchy ears from gluten but just recently when I got into some CC, along with the irritatingly itchy ears, I broke out with some bumps right on the inside of my ears that hurt when I itch. They eventually oozed a little and seem to be going down a little. Just wondering if maybe this could be DH too. Anyone experience DH in their ears??
So, for you super SUPER celiacs How do you keep yourself from getting cross contaminated while at friend's and families houses or at a function like a wedding etc.? How do you keep from going crazy when away from your house!?
