Sparks you hit the nail on the head!!!I felt this way as well before going gluten free coupled with terrible depression and angry mood swings,boy i must of been a joy to around. I am so lucky my kids and husband love me reguardless!I mean physically this diet has helped me alot but mental wise its a TREMENDOUS difference.Feels so good to be NORMAL =)

So basically Mushroom theres a heck of a lot of celiacs out there just not on paper but it causes the same ill effects.Boy ,am i glad to be offically diagnosed and not misguided i really feel for the people who really aren't sure

Hey,
I just wanted to know if anyone here fights bouts of severe depression and feeling hopeless with the diet even when you know your 100% gluten free,i find one of my earlier symptoms before diagnosis was depression and now i do go through phases of severe bouts still although not as long lasting as before diagnosis,it really impacts my life.I wanted to know if anyone here has the same problem and how they combated it??also how long did it take if ever for the diet to get rid of the depression??I'm seriously concidering maybe medicating for atleast the next few months until the diet kicks in a little longer:(

Mushroom i agree 100% you got it right not more suspitable just harder to get rid of i have had a harder time getting rid of things myself the past few yrs and i am 3 1/2 months gluten free feeling better but not 100% i keep getting chest congesion although i dont take anything and the heat in my house is forced hot air kills me,do you think it will take longer to build my system up?? or should the diet be helping with this sicknesses by now??

Hey Loey,
My answer to you would be YES celiac disease can supress your immune system because your eating the offending foods and your bodys trying to fight them off which in turn makes you less suseptible to fight off other infections.I however am lucky and was diagnosed fairly early and my blood counts were perfect even tho i sure feel anemic and tired they swear im not:)Still havent done full vitamin levels i will be doing those next week.I also find when i do get sick it tends to be more in the fall/wibter months just lasted longer than most as i did take alot of antibitotics in the past years due to severe sinus problems which i must say have almost 100% improved on the diet:)Now i wonder if my seasonal hayfever for grass/trees will improve or it has no ties?? Time will tell xoxo

Jen thank you soo much for your helpful and informative post:) I agree your approach is exactly what i will do,you def have the right idea.As for salad dressing ususally brig my own bulky bottle but i love your idea about the packets im going to check my whole foods next time i go:) Also can i add in addition to larabars what i seem to like even better and give meTONS of energy are KIND BARS omgggg to die forrrr if you like nuts that is:) thanx again xoxoxo

I made it threw my first gluten free thanksgiving:) my moms cooked everything for me a non stuffed turkey and gravy made with cornstarch which was amazing:) cranberry sauce my grandmother homemade stuffing which consists of potatoes,bacon,onions,peppers,eggs and our course she left out the breadcrumbs i should try gluten-free breadcrumbs next yr:) also greenbeans and mashed potatos it was alll soo yummy i wish thanksgiving was every day:)Oh and btw i made a gluten-free free punpkin pie for dessert the premade gluten-free crust tasted just like the reg flour made ones:)

If you need premade breadcrumbs i hear Gillians are pretty good im going to try them myself:) I have tried Glutino breadcrumbs there ok:) Goodluck!

tar yes i try to make them as well balanced with meat (protein)vegtables being the biggest portion and carbs sometimes i do add a lil xtra carbs:) i was tested for diabetes and thyroid which they said i dont have however it does run in my family...
