#691087 Rice Sensitivity

Posted by catarific on 10 April 2011 - 05:17 AM

It also could be the amount of rice being consumed. I have recently learned about the Low Fodmap Diet which does allow the consumption of grains during meals but it does say that the rule of thumb is to not have more than a half of cup to one cup (cooked) per meal. Sometimes that works. Try eating less and see if the same reaction occurs. Also limit the amount of carbohydrates being eaten at the same time. If you are having rice, do not have a starchy vegetable or bread. Only have one carbohydrate during the meal instead.

#666393 What Gluten Free Chocolate Products Do Not Contain Soy

Posted by catarific on 08 January 2011 - 11:23 AM

We are also dairy-free and the 2 brands we buy are Enjoy Life (already mentioned) and Terra Nostra. Not all of the Terra Nostra Ricemilk Choco bars are soy-free though. Stay away from the truffle filled one. It has soy.

Thanks Michelle - I will see if I can find these local but stay afway from truffle...

Enjoy Life makes some soy-free chocolate chips for baking and soy free chocolate bars: http://www.enjoylifefoods.com/

You may also want to look at some high-end organic dark chocolates. I know I saw someone post a few companies that make organic dark chocolate with not much more than cocoa but I don't recall the names. They were really pricey though.

I also really enjoy chocolate coconut milk ice cream made by Turtle Mountain. It's soy free as well as dairy free: http://www.purelydec..._Chocolate.html

thanks - I'll check these out - need my chocolate fix!

#663061 Leaky Gut - What Are Good Fruits And Vegetables To Eat?

Posted by catarific on 25 December 2010 - 01:46 PM

It is so frustrating playing detective all the time  There are so many variables - not only which food - but which combinations. I tried keeping a food diary of what foods I have problems with - but I have noticed that if I eat the offending food minus another food - then it is not that food but the combination of digesting two foods. It is so frustrating not knowing from day to day or hour to hour what foods you can eat :(

Thanks so much for the explanation! Last night I spent hours reading up on Leaky Gut Syndrome and thought maybe that it what was happening - but after awhile, when you play detective for so long with no real answers, you get sort of frazzled really wondering what is going on with your body!
