It would also be easier to control his diet and get him used to it at a younger age.

#662052 Dealing With The Holidays - Presents

I agree with what most said about just being gracious. I just wanted to add that if she suddenly realizes and apologizes, please do your best not to make her feel bad. Maybe something like, "Oh, don't give it a 2nd thought. I shared it with my kids/neighbors. They loved it. It was so nice of you to think of me and I couldn't possibly expect everyone remember the details of my diet, especially this busy time of year." Your celiac disease may just suddenly hit her.

#658156 I Am Tired Of It

Not that I've lost weight, but I understand what you are saying. People mean well though, so why not make it a teachable moment? (Ie. Explain that you are HEALTHIER.)

#657673 5 Days Into Diet And Sort Of Feeling Better!

Posted by on 01 December 2010 - 03:12 PM

I hope this is not a fluke or a "placebo effect."

Let me start by saying my symptoms aren't too bad, nothing diabilitating like some of you. I am also waiting for the official diagnosis.

Normally, I just have some D in the morning and my GI symptoms are done for the day. Today I had my first almost normal BM in months! (I know the weird things we can discuss here and get excited about.)

Today around 1:30 or so without even thinking, I decided it was time to dust my room and fold clothes. Suddenly I realized this is the time I crash every day. I didn't feel tired. I had energy and I finished the job I started. It also happened to be a rainy dreary day which usually doesn't help with that tired feeling. I'm really hoping this wasn't a fluke.

I wonder if Lyme is also the trigger for some people? And since symptoms are similar, they sort of run into each other.

#654374 On My Way To Gluten-Free Bakery

Posted by on 18 November 2010 - 05:42 AM

Again~ Still waiting on my diagnosis, but I am starting to prepare myself, and learn about my diet options.

Someone just told me a few weeks ago about a bakery that opened a few months ago that is gluten-free. It gets rave reviews and is about 3 miles from my house. I'm not even sure what I'm going to get, but I want to take a look. Yesterday, there happened to be a big article in the paper about it.

Any suggestions on some staples I should try? I'm at least going to buy a loaf of bread. I also hear she makes great ravioli.
