Greetings! I joined this community in Feb. 2011, just after recieving positive results for gluten antibodies. On March 14 I was diagnosed with celiac disease via an endoscopy. I am happy to know that I have celiac disease because I think it may underlie some serious health problems I have had.
In the last 6 years I have tried vegetarianism, yoga, ayurveda, Chinese medicine, chiropractic, and endocrine supplements to resolve my lack of energy, total lack of periods for between the age of 23 and 27, osteoporosis, insomnia and low-adrenal symptoms. Celiac may be behind most of these symptoms, and I am now investigating my ever-evolving food sensitivities which seem to be related to the damage to the intestinal lining that celiac causes.
One crucial thing I have discovered is that doctors do not necessarily know what is best for me. I am taking the approach of becoming highly tuned to my body, along with doing research, to become an assertive participant in my own health care.
I look forward to growing and learning in this community!
