Hi,
Is anyone able to recommend some safe places to dine out in the Bentonville/Fayetteville Arkansas area? I'm going there to visit my sister in early April...
Thanks so much!

Pulsatile Tinnitus & Headaches
06 March 2012 - 06:14 PM
Hi Everyone,
I'm having some strange things going on... Since Feb. 10th I've had a headache that comes & goes - but it came on like a freight train - sudden & really severe & with blurred vision. It was the worst ever! It lasted 5 full days! Since then, the headaches have been daily & intermittent.
I've been irritated by hearing my heartbeat - loud & pounding - in my right ear. I believe it's called "pulsatile tinnitus". It's worse at night while I'm lying down. Movement does not
seem to matter..
I've not ingested gluten - as far as I know. I'm dairy free, soy free. I had an MRI - normal except for a calcified mass on my scalp/skull which the neurosurgeon is going to remove. I go to physical therapy for neck and shoulder tension.
I'm stumped about the ear thing ( the headaches too, as I'm not prone to them). Has anyone here experienced anything like this? I have an appoinent with my regular doctor on Monday - just wondering if anyone has any insight as to what tests I might request.
Thanks for any & all input!

Upper Abdominal Pain - Under Ribcage
30 December 2011 - 10:47 AM
Hi Everyone,
A while back I posted about Upper GI/Ribcage Pain.
Just wanted to update that I had a follow-up Endoscopy (after 9 months gluten free) & the results are in.
It's the H. Pylori bacteria.
Lo & behold, common to this infection is burning/gnawing upper abdominal pain - lots of times under/behind the left ribcage area. In other words, exactly what I've had.
G.I Doc said that my little villi are growing back, so the gluten free diet is working! There is hope!
Now I'm on Clarithromycin, Amoxcillin & Prilosec for treatment. Also, still taking the Culturelle probiotic & staying dairy free. I'm 3 days in & I do believe it's starting to work.
For those of you suffering from that crazy under-the-ribs pain, it might not be a bad idea to get tested for H. Pylori. I've read that it's very common.
All best to everyone. Happy New Year, by the way!

Upper Gi/ribcage Pain
24 November 2011 - 07:03 PM
Please, I'm in need of some advice...
I am dealing with constant pain underneath/behind my ribcage.
It simply will not go away - even though I am careful in regards to diet and personal hygiene items.
The pain is typically localized to my right side. It is present 90 per cent of the time. It is best described as dull & achy. It's like a really bad toothache in my upper gut.
This is why my initial endoscopy was done (back in February). Biopsy revealed total villus
atrophy & I've been gluten free ever since.
My doctor said oh well, can't do anything about it. This makes me sad - I fear I'm not healing at all - and yet... blood tests show high B12 (1481), real high Folate, and normal D levels. As of June or so, my 'thyroid function' was within normal limits... just don't know why I still have this chronic pain in my side. I'm frustrated.
I will be getting a second opinion next month. Any ideas as to what sorts of tests - if any - I could ask for? Any ideas at all?
Thanks for reading, and for any & all input!
P.S.: I've posted about this in the past so I apologize for being repeating myself -
guess I'm just desperate for some more enlightenment. Can't get anywhere with my GI or regular doctor...
Thanks again,
Pondy

Rib Cage Woes.... Again & Again & Again
01 November 2011 - 04:40 PM
I've seen so many threads here about rib cage pain, yet here I am with questions - sorry
I've had burning pains right underneath my rib cage - both sides - for the past couple days. They come and go, but mostly they are present.
This is the "mystery" pain that has stumped both my PCP & GI since early February, but the one that finally got the GI to (begrudgingly) do an Endoscopy & diagnose total villous atrophy.
Here I am about 9 months later & it feels just like old times!
I've been eating well - very few processed foods (with the exception of a couple Snickers during the past week), very little milk with my morning coffee... I've been careful.
So, does anyone know what causes the rib cage pain? Is is an "i've been glutened" sign? If so, then I need to look at possible cc sources.
I wonder about osteomalacia, because I have "whole body hurts" also (these are ongoing).
My last vitamin D level was 41, which the doctor said was within normal limits.
I'm just confused. I have a check-up on the 11th & wonder if a bone density scan is warrented. I'm a little afraid to ask for one because me coming in with "mystery pain" yet again makes me look like a malingerer in their eyes.
Thanks,
Pondy
