I've been feeling unwell for a few weeks and trying to find the cause has been killing me, but I think I finally have it. I reread labels on all supplements. The Spring Valley Vitamin E I started on a little while does not list soy as an ingredient, but it is not mentioned along with the things it is free of: gluten, salt, sugar, artificial color or flavor, starch, wheat or lactose.
That got me suspicious so I went to the manufacturer’s website and found that it contains soybean oil, but because the U.S. labeling laws don’t consider that to be an allergin, they don’t have to disclose it. What a load of garbage!
I have a feeling that I will feel a lot better tomorrow when I get it all out of my system. I'm 7 months into being free of gluten, soy and a host of other things and I am still learning the hard way.

There is also a vacuum regarding knowledge of celiac and other food intolerances in the psychiatric field. I was treated for ADD, depression and anxiety and nobody ever asked a question that could have suggested gluten. They are unbelievably uninformed.

A family friend who is a nurse suggested it may be as simple as low blood sugar. She suggested this as opposed to thyroid as I am OK in the morning and decline in the afternoon. My diet has been animal protein and complex carbs with various vitamins and other supplements. Perhaps it is as simple of not getting enough carbs so I started taking honey several times during the afternoon and have felt better today. Coffee has been minimized also because I haven't felt the need. Wishful thinking or placebo? Time will tell. I'll start keeping fruit juice on hand and will try to maintain a steady level of blood sugar and see if that works.

True story (not one word of exaggeration):
Before going gluten-free, I was known as the queen of lists. I made lists of things I needed to remember and carried these lists and consulted them all the time. If something wasn't written down on one of my lists, then it got forgotten.
After going completely gluten-free, my memory improved so much that now, one of my many nick-names is 'elephant brain.' Honestly. I've got a super-sharp memory. Unless I get glutened, in which case it feels like my brain is filled with cotton, and I can't remember my own phone number. It takes a good 3-4 days for the brain fog to lift after a glutening. Then I go right back to elephant brain.
I hear you about lists. I had lists all over the place and even a master list for my lists. My wife gave me a notepad one Christmas with a drawing of Santa on it and the quote on it was: "I made a list, checked it twice and forgot it!"

When I get glutened my short-term memory is terrible. Very ADD-like. I can look at a phone number, turn away and not remember any part of it. I think of something I need downstairs and when I get down the stairs I have no idea why I'm there.
This is almost completely eliminated when off gluten.

Very cool little benefit. I've been gluten free just since early May and wonder what other benefits I will start seeing over the next year or so.

OK, this seems strange. I'm a 53 year old man who has used Grecian Formula for around 5 years. The strange thing is that I have not used it in a few weeks and my hair seems to be trending back to a more brown shade anyway. Anyone experience hair color restoration after going gluten free?

Within 48 hours of going gluten free 7 weeks ago acne on my back vanished. I used to get it every summer and one problem was that it itched a lot. I would scratch and bleed and stain shirts, sheets, etc. I've noticed that my skin in an overall sense is better as well. Not as dry, no blemishes and my face actually looks younger. Pretty amazing!

As a person with HR experience, a potential employer cannot discriminate against anyone with a condition. It is absolutely fine to bring up your Celiac if you are comfortable with that. Call the restaurant in advance and ask about gluten free meals. Then order one at lunch and have a good interview.
