#839059 Not Sure I Can Do Much More Of This...:(

Posted by New Community Member on 26 November 2012 - 01:38 PM

"Anyone successfully find happiness with this?  I'm failing miserably at it."

Like others, have mentioned it will take time to adjust (I'm still adjusting). It's a pain, yes. Not meaning to impose my beliefs on you and I don't know where you stand with regards to faith. But honestly for me, because of my relationship with Jesus Christ, I can still choose joy, even with this dumb disease. I've come to the conclusion that without Him, this life is just not worth living. He's the only reason I can live to face tomorrow, along with all of the challenges living with celiac presents (and that's a lot!). Message me if you'd like to hear more - I would love to share.

#759408 "can You Eat This? What About That?"

Posted by New Community Member on 23 December 2011 - 03:24 PM

I like the suggestion of just changing the subject when asked. That seem like it would be the easiest way to "ignore it."  I hate having pity parties, but mostly I hate it when people feel sorry for me.  I'd like to just act like it's no big deal, when in actuality food does seem like a big deal because most social events involve food. I'm the first and only person I've ever known with celiac...Every time I come to this site I'm reminded that I'm not struggling with this alone so I appreciate the support. Ya'll have a Merry Christmas. Stay safe.

#758216 Mother Drives Me Nuts Cooking Gluten Laden Foods

Posted by New Community Member on 20 December 2011 - 12:43 AM

Keep in mind that celiac/gluten free diet is ALWAYS at the forefront of our minds and it probably didn't cross your mother's mind. So I wouldn't take it personal, it more than likely wasn't intentional.  It's foreign to think that people without celiac don't have to know every single ingredient and brand that was put into a certain type of food. It is very annoying and frustrating, I know. I hope you feel better soon.
