Yea I wouldn't be able to bake. But at the time I worked in the hospital cafe there was no baking. All breads etc were premade. I am hoping that is still the case. I don't know about nursing homes but I guess I will find out over the coming weeks.

I worked a nursing home for a while and all baked stuff/desserts were brought in frozen. We would sit them out to thaw and then someone would portion them. Good luck to you in you job hunt.

My kids were missing Bannock so I tried making some this morning. It came out pretty darn good. I used BRM AP. I don't like the bean taste so will try again with a different mix.

1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cup gluten-free all purpose flour
1 rounded Tablespoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons Xanthan gum
1 cup water (don't add all at once)

Mix well all dry ingredients
Add water until dough is a bit softer than biscuit dough.
It will be sticky, spoon out (about the size of a lemon) onto floured board. Sprinkle with flour and flatten to about 1 1/2 inch. They will rise up at least double when cooking.
Heat oil in frying pan to medium low (3 or 4 of 10) and add bannocks and fry very slowly until golden and then turn and fry slowly until that side is golden. Drain, slice open and top with butter, honey or jam, cinnamon and sugar or make a sandwich.

These make great Indian Tacos.

109 here the other day and getting close again this week. I actually did sew up a quick pullover baggy dress for those muggy icky days. (And to hide the thickening middle.) :P

I just quit 2 weeks ago using a book called Easy Way To Quit Smoking.
It works great. No withdrawal at all, I was actually euphoric for a few days.
If you get a bad craving do something unexpected like standing up and turning in a circle. You will be distracted and forget the craving. People may even laugh at you. Quitting can be fun. :)

I went to sleep dreaming about Tiramisu and now find a moo moo might be out there with my name on it and now a song. Gotta get me some of that tiramisu!!!

Maybe a kilt instead?
And take the helmet off, maybe your hair isn't long enough to let down?

And we have to let our hair down and dance even if we can't. We won't have to worry about how bad we are because we will look silly anyway in our moo moo's.
All we need now is a Tiramisu song for everyone to sing.

Nothing special tonight. My kids haven't learned gluten-free cooking yet.
We have a hug pot of chili and some biscuits from last night.
And I am working on a bottle of wine from my son.

I am sooo wishing it was summer. Had flurries yesterday :(
Ribs, corn on the cob, Mexican bean salad and turnip/rutabaga and green apple salad. Raspberry sorbet for dessert. Oh and can't forget the beer.

where do u get the quinoa flat bread?

I make my own, almost everyday.

Quinoa Flat Bread

1 cup Quinoa flour ( you can switch it up with other flours)
1/2 teaspoon Xanthan gum
pinch of salt
3/4 cup water
Mix it up, it will be like thick porridge.
Use parchment paper on a cookie sheet and with wet fingers pat and spread dough into flat breads (1/4 inch).
I usually make four for burgers.
Top with salt or herbs and bake at 400 for about 15 to 20 minutes.

For burgers I add about a tablespoon baking soda and pat them about 1/2 inch thick and bake at 350 for about 20 to 30 minutes. When I take them out of the oven I cover them so they are not too crispy. Then I use a serrated tomato knife to slice them open.

Unless you're licking the TV remote or somehow putting it in your mouth, the odds of anyone becoming sick from that is slim to none. This is the kind of paranoia that runs rampant with this disease. With all the comtagious diseases out there like colds and flu, who routinely puts their hands in their mouths without washing them? :blink:

I can only speak for myself but I have a wheat allergy and I touch my face a lot in a day. Rub my eyes etc. If I touch something and a crumb gets on my hand and then rub my eye well there ya go. I am working really hard at not touching my face so much.
