In Topic: Confused About Gluten Free Products..

I also agree with mushroom & rosetapper23 & ciamarie!
Another reason not to use gluten containing topical ingredients is that Vit E is absorbed through the skin. Now if that Vit E happens to be wheat derived then what do you think is going to happen?

I have dh ~~~ I know that NOW. But for 7 or 8 years I have not been able to wear makeup of any kind. It would itch me so! And my face, particularly my eyes would swell up. I would wear it, come home & right away wash it off ~~ still had reactions. Tried 20 or 30 products ~~~ with the same results. Guess what? Now that I found out I am celiac & with dh & looked for gluten-free makeup. I found Afterglow (online) which is gluten free ~~~ pricey but gluten-free. I tried it. I'm a very happy girl! For the first time in years & years I can wear makeup. It's like a miracle.

OH MY GOSH!! I used to use certain makeups that would make my face itch and turn bright red and I just wanted it off asap! I wonder if it could have been something with the gluten...however, now I wear numerous different kinds. So is most foundation contain gluten? :(

I am 7 weeks, have been gluten free for a month, and lost 6 lbs. I think it partially has to do with food aversions and the nausea but I haven't weighed this little in years :/

In Topic: New To Celiac

I have just been diagnoised with Celia disease( through blood work) after living with the misdiagnois of IBS for the past 15 years. So I am waiting to get into a Gastrointrologist for my scope, but my Dr states that I should continue eating Gluten as my regular diet until I have the final test done, which is easy for him to advise as he is not the one that is getting sick..any suggestions?

I am in the same boat. Mine is scheduled for Jan 13th, but my Dr said I could go gluten free a wk before.

I had the radioactive iodine scan done a few months ago. After I had my son (hes 10 months now) I developed hyperthyroidism, the Dr told me that it should have gone back to normal shortly after but it hadn't so he thought I had Graves and sent me for the test. It was normal. They just had me take a pill come back and pointed this machine at my knee for 2 min then had me lay under an xray machine for 10 min on each side. Didn't feel a thing but it was very boring!

However, like I said my test was normal so he said that was odd and sent me home and wanted me to get my TSH levels checked in 12 wks and I am now waiting for results!

I also just found out last week that my celiac panel was all positive and now am waiting on a biopsy. I have been sick for years so I totally understand how you feel about ridding yourself of the horrible pain even though you may want to cheat. I have been researching quite a bit, but so far have not started a gluten free diet.
