Iíve actually never had a problem eating cereals containing malt flavoring and I would consider myself to be extremely sensitive to gluten. Iím not sure why this is, especially since the slightest cross contamination seems to give me quite intense reactions.

In Topic: Kissing (I Know There Have Been Others Like This)

This issue JUST occurred to me tonight. Iíve been gluten free now for about 7 months, but so far Iíve been single since I got diagnosed with my gluten intolerance. Iím very, very sensitive to gluten and the longer I am gluten free, the more intense my symptoms have become when I do come across it accidentally, so Iím pretty sure this would be an issue for me in any future relationship that I pursue. Any ideas on how to tell a future beau that he canít kiss me unless he brushes/rinses/flosses?

In Topic: What Is The Severity Of Your Reaction To Gluten?

Iím 20 and I've been off gluten for I think 6-7 months now. I get symptoms usually within 15 minutes of ingesting it. Usually my symptoms include severe stomach cramps and diarrhea, then the next day my hair falls out in clumps. Iím pretty sensitive. Even the slightest cross-contamination can make me sick.

I see Dr. Shanti Eswaran. She is a GI out of U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. Her clinical and research specialty is in gluten intolerances and celiac disease. She's absolutely fantastic. She listens attentively and is very thorough. She is very down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and since she herself has some food intolerances, she is also a great resource as well. After 3 years and four GIs, she was the only one who accurately diagnosed my chronic illness as being food-related. You can message me if you'd like her office number.
