Dairy, But Not So Much Fat, Intolerance.

I tried going totally off dairy the last few days to see the effect. I am aware that lactose intolerance is a side effect, but I have a cheese tooth. Swiss is cocaine to me.

My belly feels better, but best of all is making happy gurgling noises and going down a bit. I guess I was in denial before, but its dairy free for me.

Fat intolerance may also be an issue. I always try to eat low fat meats, but I guess I thought dairy fat was different  or healthier than milk fat. Maybe its worse.

Thyroid Issues?

As I understand, gluten attacks the thyroid gland, reducing metabolism. Has anyone felt that their metabolism picked improved after being gluten free. Can the thyroid even heal itself, like the liver can?

Also, I believe the pancreas is affected, reducing digestive enzyme output. Maybe it just the absence of gluten, but my digestion has improved after three months of being gluten free.

Carbohydrate Sensitivity Or Fat Sensitivity?

Since being totally gluten free for almost a month, I have a reduction in most of the other side effects except for the bloating. As I understand it, the compromised digestive system will have a hard time digesting either fats or carbs, maybe both, until the villi grow back (very simplified).

I tried eating low fat for a week and felt no difference. This week I went low carb, except for some gluten free bread for my lunch sandwhich. I noticed I had much less bloating. I am a light eater, with the usual day being a bowl of cereal for breakfast, sandwhich for lunch, and meat and potato for supper. I would start getting gas buildup in the morning, which would increase after lunch until it was almost unbearable. Then I had To lay down after supper.Cutting back the carbs, especially early in the day, sure helped me. Anyone else notice this effect?

I have taken this on and off for years. It helped with my sore knees, but the knee problems went away after I ditched the gluten. I have done a bit of research and apparently glucosamine can reduce intestinal inflammation much as it does musculoskeletal, and also binds to lectins escorting them out of the body.

Anybody use glucosamine and what are your experiances?

I was wondering how many of you have digestive issues such as gas and bloating after drinking alcohol, even supposedly 'safe' drinks like wine.

Is it possible that with a compromised digestive system, alcohol is not processed as well?
