Hello! I have a cold and am trying to find a medicine that is gluten free. The only medicine I've tried since going gluten free is Vicks Nature Fusion because it's labeled gluten free but it doesn't work at all for me. My symptoms are just stuffy/runny nose and sore throat. Can anyone tell me what they take (that can be found in regular drug stores) that they know is safe? Something that is preferably in pill form instead of liquid would be great. Thanks so much! 

So I met this guy and we've established that we both like each other. He's really sweet and we're supposed to go out for the first time tomorrow. I'm not suggesting anything with happen tomorrow but it has occurred to me that we may kiss sometime in the near future. It will be my first kiss ever and so obviously my first kiss as a celiac as well. The guy eats gluten but knows what Celiac is and even said he thought he had it at one time. He even seems to understand that even a single breadcrumb could hurt me. I'm not currently comfortable with eating at restaurants and I kind of hinted at that when we were making plans. He seemed to understand and said that if we ever did want to eat at a restaurant we would plan ahead and make sure it was safe. That made me really, really happy. This guy is super sweet but I'm SO worried about having to tell him that "oh, by the way, since my body is an idiot you kind of need to brush your teeth before we kiss so..........." I just feel like that's going to scare him off. And yeah, I know that if he doesn't understand then he isn't worth it but I really like him and want to try my hardest to make it work and not freak him out. I want to tell him in the best way possible and at the right time. I don't want to just spring it on him right as he leans in for a kiss, ya know? But I also don't want to seem like I'm just assuming and mention it too early. Does anyone have any experience with this? How did you handle it and did it go well? I know it really depends on the guy but  just have no idea when or how to mention it? Help??

 

I plan to start volunteering at my local animal shelter soon but have some concerns before signing up. The volunteer position entails playing with, walking, and talking to the cats and dogs in order to get them socialized and ready for adoption. It doesn't list feeding as one of the responsibilities but my guess is that I would be somewhat involved in feeding. I'm pretty sure the food that the shelter uses contains gluten. My cat's food has gluten but it's a little different when it's just her and I can scoop it, put it in her bowl, close the container, and wash my hands immediately after. If I was feeding a large number of animals or even just playing with them and trying to avoid kisses, it seems like it would be much harder. Do you think it's a possibility that I could still volunteer?

I don't really want to talk to the shelter people about it because I feel weird volunteering my time and then bringing up the whole gluten thing and making it all about me and my issue. I could ask to wear gloves when feeding but I wouldn't want to wear them around the animals in case they spooked them. If it were you would you feel uncomfortable bringing up your dietary issues or even be worried about the dog and cat food at all?

Okay so this is totally gross but I started up the dishwasher today and somehow forget to add the dishwashing detergent. I don't know where my mind was but I didn't realize until I had already taken dishes out of it and ate an entire meal on them. I guess I'm just so stressed out with exams at school and work and everything else that my mind was focusing more on those things that dishes.The dishwasher had gluten containing dishes in it along with my stuff but it would be safe to say that most of them had been rinsed out. What the hot temperature and water pressure be enough to kill anything or should I be worried? I know it was totally stupid on my part but now I'm freaking out. I know there's nothing I can do but wait but what do you guys think?

I have a bottle of Rachael Ray Everyday EVOO and I know olive oil is supposed to be gluten free but the bottle doesn't say anything. Has anyone ever seen an olive oil with gluten or should they all be safe?
