In Topic: Utz Potato Chips

My celiac-diagnosed daughter got very sick because of the "gluten free" Utz honey BBQ chips, too. This is sad for me, as I grew up eating Utz chips in Baltimore and was so excited to see them in my grocery story here in Atlanta.

My 11 year old daughter was just diagnosed on Friday. She has not taken well to the news at all. She has been moody & angry ever since. What bothers me the most is she is not eating well at all. On Friday after work my husband picked her up a gluten free pizza and chex cereal. She hated the pizza. She didn't eat the rest of the night. The next day she had some cereal & liked it. We went to the store & got a few things. She was not interested in picking anything out except for brownie mix that she hasn't touched yet. She wants to make it herself but keeps saying she doesn't feel like it. She tried making toast, she hated the bread so she ate more cereal. All she ate today was cereal & a few strawberries. She wont eat! I don't know what to do. We are seeing a dietician Wednesday. Oh, wait at Old Navy today in the check out line she was looking through the impulse items & found an almond coconut bar labeled gluten & wheat free. I let her get it of course & she liked it. Other than that she has only eaten chex.

My 13 year old middle school daughter was diagnosed 4 months ago after missing 4 months of school for debilitating stomach problems (which turned out to be celiac). Her friends eat her gluten-free (gluten free) food when they come here and when she goes to their house and takes food with her, and they love it. Best cure for feeling like an oddball. :)

Gluten Flam really helps my daughter. We ran out and forgot to get more, and boy did she start feeling bad. Got much better 4 days after re-starting it. Good luck!

In Topic: Indigestion/heartburn With Celiac Disease

05 August 2012 - 09:28 PM

I am new to the forum. I am being tested for celiac disease and just had an gastroscope yesterday. My doctor says that he is almost certain I have it given my labs.

What I need to know is if the symptoms I am having which I havent seen listed on the information regarding celiac disease, are, indeed from the disease.

I am having almost constant indigestion/heartburn. From what I read you can also become lactose intolerant too. Would even taking a few sips of coffee with cream in it have such an instant reaction? I am very frustrated that my doctors seem to be dismissing my symptoms. I am miserable with this almost constant discomfort in my chest. Is there anything that may help relieve this other than Tums-which doesnt touch it.

Thanks in advance for any imput anyone can share with me.

Terrible reflux &heartburn were just some of the symptoms my daughter had before her diagnosis of celiac. Her gastro put her on omeprizole for many months to heal her esophagus. It was very helpful, even though she ate strictly gluten free. Her body needed protection and time to heal.

In Topic: Gluten Flam Pills

Has anyone heard anything or used a product called "Gluten Flam"?

It is a pill like enzyme that you are supposed to take with meals, and it provides enzymes as well as specific enzymes to help you digest hidden sources of gluten in case you come in contact with it.

I have been taking it, as my holistic nutritionist put me on it when I first started my Gluten-Free diet a couple months ago. Anyone have any personal reviews of it?

Our chiropractor gave us Gluten Flam for our 13 y/o daughter when she was diagnosed with celiac. She said it would help with minor accidental exposure to gluten and it would help heal the damage previously done. After she finished the first bottle, we forgot to get more. My daughter had a couple of bad weeks despite being extremely careful to have no gluten. I bought another bottle and within 4 days of taking it again, she was doing great. I am amazed how much it helps her.
