Stephanie, is that true that if you don't have an Epi pen you don't have an allergy? I thought you could have an allergy with a variety of reactions but only needed a pen if you have anaphylactic reactions.

I've been avoiding Alka Seltzer because it isn't gluten-free, which is too bad because it was my go-to medicine before going gluten-free. It would be great if they came out with a product that was gluten-free.

In Topic: Gluten-Free Girl Scout Cookies - Horrible!

Girl Scout cookies are made in several different bakeries across the country and while they all produce the same core cookies (thin mint, trefoils, samoas, etc) there are other flavors that are unique to certain bakeries so one GS may sell a lemon cookie, for example, but that cookie isn't offered in a different state. So there's a possibility some gluten-free cookies are better than others.

I haven't heard anything about their baking process for gluten-free cookies though. I hope they are taking all the proper precautions necessary to avoid cross contamination. Knowing the Girl Scouts I bet they are but obviously I'd like to see that in writing before eating the cookies.

Ate at Mon Ami Gabi today. It doesn't appear to have made me sick and Im pretty sensitive...yay! The food is good and the staff is very knowledgeable about gluten-free. My waiter informed me they are all well trained and have to follow strict procedures, even down to not being allowed to carry a gluten plate and a gluten free plate at the same time - they have to be carried separately. I felt (cautiously) safe there and I seldom feel that way unless it's an entirely gluten-free restaurant. Thanks for the suggestion!

Alwayssomething, do you eat at Maggiano's where you live? I don't trust ours because they have a reputation of cooking the gluten-free pasta in the same water as the regular pasta. I know all locations are different so maybe the vegas location takes better care than my local place.

I'm definitely going to try Mon Ami Gabi - it sounds delicious!
