taszoo, I am not familiar with the label laws in OZ. But in Canada and the US, maltodextrin is definitely safe--if wheat is the source it must be explicitly declared on the label.

PSAWYER, according to the following website maltodextrin is not necessary safe: http://www.glutenfre...r/maltodextrin/ The labeling requirements appear more complex than what you mention.

It's strange that you mention the ground beef from Giant Eagle, Pyro, because I had the same problem there also.
Anybody else having issues with ground beef from Giant Eagle?

I had a major reaction after having the Torani Rasp berry syrup.
I am fairly certain it's from the syrup since I didn't have any other unusual food.
The culprit may be one of the "natural flavors" in the ingredients, contamination with the pumpkin syrup at the factory (the pumpkin flavor clearly contains gluten as reported by others), or the "caramel color" (I suspect this product is made in Italy, where caramel color may contain gluten contrary to the US).
Stay away from that brand!
Others have mentioned that the Monin syrup is safe.
