#900385 One Year In With Celiac 8-Yo Daughter. Feeling So Sad.

Posted by surviormom on 21 December 2013 - 09:02 AM

Vent away.  I am a mother of 5.  I get tired of it too.  I have two sons and myself that need to be gluten-free, and the rest I see small improvements in simple things.  Teen acne is better.  Middle child in every way is now a sweetheart.  Second child is finally gaining some weight, middle one too.  Little things.  But the two youngest and I we have to do this, or we have real problems so yes, it is always part of the planning of every day.  Meals are planned so we do not need to go through a drive thru anywhere, anytime.  Snacks are now healthy snacks not easy snacks.  And it can become very inconvenient, but it is what is best for all of us.  OOPS I did not have to make a dessert, oh well, we did not need it.  OOPs, I forgot to buy ice cream, we did not need it (I cannot have it anyway).  What, we are out of sugar!  Use honey.  :)  I understand, I promise, vent away....oh did I forget allergy season skipped our house this year...hmmm.

#896477 Liquid Diet Post Glutening?

Posted by surviormom on 19 November 2013 - 08:55 AM

Water, green tea, and broth are my go to.  I do add some light food when I make something for the family that is really good, I will let myself have a couple of bites.  It helps shorten the recovery time.

#874333 The Stuff Doctors Tell Their People...sad

Posted by surviormom on 13 June 2013 - 06:56 AM

So is that why the GI wants me on Prilosec and the GP wants me on Zantac, both want me on Gaviscon, and I just want Betaine and Slippery Elm.

When did it switch from healing people to money money money.  That is just wrong.

#872680 Newly Diagnosed- Dealing With Rude Comments

Check out this YouTube video by Better Batter that talks about "Stuff People Say to Celiacs".  It's pretty funny and I think we can all relate!

Have a great evening.

Loved it.

#871892 My Test Came Back

Posted by surviormom on 31 May 2013 - 01:44 PM

I think you are making a smart move.  My test today said no celiac sprue identified, that I am a NCGI ( actually I think the word used was Sensitivity but I think they are the same)  Explained to me that, if I continued to eat Gluten products I could end up being Celiac.  I have not been eating Gluten products for the past year, only occasional incidents.  Well.  I do not need a diagnosis.  I just will never the touch the stuff again, not intentionally anyhow.  Same plan for my kids,

So, good for you.
