It is an adjustment...for me it was easy to say no (stomach virus sick within an hour, most recent episode ended with ER trip for anaphylactic shock--testing Jan 11 for wheat allergy vs gluten intolerance with secondary allergy). As to what to eat, I prefer the combination flour pasta (corn, quinoa), even DH said it was good. We do cook both, separate strainers. It is just to expensive to feed 10 people gluten free pasta when I'm the only one with issues-just Sunday dinner, don't feed that many daily :)

Breakfast is usually egg substitute omlets or chex cereal. Lunch is either left overs or turkey/cheese roll-ups and chips. Make sure to read the labels, some lunch meat has gluten. Chips do also such as Pringles (which happens to be my favorite).

Listen to your body, first. Now as to the hubby...mine was so unsupportive in the beginning (yours sounds like mine) but the longer I stayed gluten free, the more he cared (guess he realized how sick it made me when I had no trouble passing up my favorites and he started researching cross contamination and telling me about). Fully supportive now, although he says he would never let his body win like that. I just said it must not make you sick enough. Extremely supportive since anaphylactic reaction (testing for allergy Jan11, had neg celiac blood panel before going gluten free) Wednesday and ending up in ER unable to breath when reaction started the normal gluten exposure way.

So long story, short. Give him time, hold your ground and follow what the doctor and your body tells you. No one has to give permission for gluten free lifestyle except you.

That's when I started getting better also, I added fiber gummies and a probiotic from Costco to my intake. 5 weeks in and I go most every day. Nice soft formed and it no longer floats (means I'm now absorbing nutrients).

That's interesting. My therapist said I was controlling this because everything else was out of my control.

So then you gave yourself a max you had to eat and that would put you back in control because the disease doesn't get what it wants either, correct?

Correct, since most food issues such as this are a control issue. I just switched what I controlled. I started at 500/day then each week added another 100/day until I was at 1200.

#828675 Gluten Challenge Before Endoscopy

KikiB, I understand your feelings. I went gluten free after PCP said no to blood work and wants me to have endoscopy and colonoscopy (can't afford and it doesn't change treatment). Then four days later my endocrinologist says that she will order it with my other labs, so I'm back to eating it and wondering how I was surviving and just accepting of feeling this way before.
