Hi, I am a full time employee for a medical supply distributor. I love what I do. I help sell and distribute medical supplies for Physicians offices and Acute Care Facilities. I am a 50-something year old woman and I enjoy life and have a generally good attitude towards my health.
I am happily married to my college sweet heart of 33 years. We have three grown sons. My youngest son is engaged to be married.
My road to discovering I was a Celiac began over three years ago, but now that I look upon my life it may have started many, many years ago. I was diagnosed with IBS in my 30's, right after the birth of my third child. I have had Gerd, and acid reflux since then. In high school I was told my thyroid was too slow, but I was active and healthy, so we ignored that. I felt mostly normal and very healthy for many years. Then I started getting severe migraines in my twenties. We thought it was hormones going crazy. I even went on weekly migraine treatments for about three years. Surgically I have had seven abdominal surgeries, including C-sections for the birth of all three of my sons. I've had correctional adhesions, gall bladder, and hysterectomy all done abdominal. Then about three years ago, my skin went crazy. I was diagnosed with Psoriasis at first and was even put on Humira, and then Embrel. Neither prescription worked for the skin condition. I've been put on series of Prednisone treatment and these will help clear up my skin, but the rash/skin condition would always return. A year ago I went to a new dermatologist, and he took scrapings, and skin biopsies. All turned out negative for Celiac's. I've kept battling the itchiest rash ever and my skin is horrible. It's mostly on my lower legs, but has crept over my abdomen, all over my arms, and on my back and buttocks. I finally went to a dermatopathologist and more skin biopsies were taken. I've been told it's an auto-immune disorder. Why is this so hard to diagnose?
