this thread really hit home. I am now almost 2 years gluten dairy and soy free. over the past 2 years I have noticed reacting to foods that were originally ok. like lately I have had to give up chocolate, dark drinks like cola and tea, corn, and nut butters that were great for snacks. I think it's always a work in progress and we need to listen to our bodies. your approach seems right on to me, but be aware things can change down the road.

how about packing leftovers from your dinner, I always make extra, I never make enough for just one meal. I bake 6 sweet potatoes at a time, cooked veggies, always have grilled chicken, cooked burgers, packs of tuna on hand. a big salad can be made for several meals. then on my way out I pick enough to make a meal and off I go.

I know it's hard when I go to someone's house, they offer to make special for me, I thank them but I do decline and bring my own. i know most would try, but it's all cross contaminated and I am way too sensitive. once I went to a friend's house and she was making potato pancakes, she made an entire load of them, then said to me, I'll make you a few without flour. well, the flour was already everywhere in the kitchen. I thanked her and told her it wasn't necessary. I think to this day she thinks I am a prima donna. oh well.
