Tiny, Itchy, Red Spots!?

15 December 2013 - 02:12 PM

They are barely noticeable to look at me.  However, they are multiplying on my chest, back, and arms.  They are very small, you can't even really feel them but when I get out of the shower they look inflamed and irritated.  I have had 2 or 3 singular spots that get red when I get out of the shower for years but in the last two weeks the count has gone up drastically.  Thoughts?  Advice?  Possibilities?

Should I go ahead and count on NOT sending out that pic of me fresh out of the shower for my Christmas cards?

Geez...

The Whole Church Turned Around

12 December 2013 - 05:55 AM

and looked at me!  I attend a really great small church.  About 200 people so its pretty small.  We are like a big family, really.  Most of us are there on Sunday morning and evening as well as Wednesdays.

Anyhow, before service people stand up and voice their desire for prayer for various people or things in their life.  Well, someone requested prayer for their brother who has recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease.  "Something to do with gluten or something."

The whole church turned around and looked/smiled at me!  It was actually really sweet.  Everyone in my rural church in the sticks are gluten savvy.  I don't know, for all the times that we run into people that make things awkward, this was a moment where things were made completely awkward in the best way possible :-)

My friends were joking with me afterwards, "Hey, did you like how the whole church immediately turned around and looked at you?"

It was pretty funny.  I love them.

Tendon Health Question

09 December 2013 - 07:14 AM

What is the consensus on tendon health supplements?  I'm taking a multi, Vit D, and Calcium.  My feet and hands experience some aching and I'm trying to lift weights again.  I have seen language regarded "chelated" magnesium, zinc, and I've seen people mention biosil or silicon.  ?  Is there a consensus out there on the following supplements?  I don't want to just start popping them haphazardly.  Am I including the right ones?  Is there one I'm leaving out?

I am also reducing my sodium intake for pre-hypertensive purposes and I've read that too much sodium can cause inflammation as well which is detrimental to tendon health as well.

Thoughts?

Right Side Of Head Aching

04 December 2013 - 02:51 PM

The right side of my head just above and in fron of my ear is intermittently aching in the evening and hurts to the touch.  If I lightly run my hand over it, it hurts worse right now.  Thoughts?

I am only taking a multi vitamin and Vitamin D (2000IU's).

My BP is 138/90.

First Gluten, Now Lactose (Noooo!)

01 December 2013 - 02:49 PM

I started out by cutting gluten.  My follow up labs show that I have done a great job of staying compliant with my gluten-free diet.  My other marker shows that my immune system/tissues are still reacting.  I'm absent IGA so it could take longer for these numbers to decrease.

I have noticed on my own that when I eat ice cream (evening habit), and drink milk (love it) or make my pizzas (extra cheese please), I get G-A-S-S-A-Y.

I've gone (mostly) lactose free and have noticed major improvement in the aforementioned.  I think its safe to say, I need to stick with the lactose free wagon.

Additionally, I've seen improvement in a urinary symptom as well, more bubbles than the norm.  Thats been going on for a few years, recently, it has cleared up.  Huh?  Whatever, works for me.

Anyhow, if you have gone gluten-free and are still having a few issues you can't shake, try eliminating lactose.  I didn't want to believe it but its helped.
