Lithium Issues

07 September 2006 - 06:36 AM

[font=Tahoma][size=7][size=7]Hello again, I think I might be doing something wrong trying to post this question. I tried it earlier, but nothing appeared on the message board  Anyway, I have been gluten free for over a year now and was recently diagnosed with Bipolar II. The shrink put me on a low dose of Lithium, but now I am having stomach problems again. Not positive if it is the Lithium or if I am doing something else wrong. Does anyone know if a Celiac can take lithium? Any help would be appreciated

Lithium

07 September 2006 - 04:36 AM

 Hi all,
Anyone know anything about taking Lithium if you are Celiac? I have done the search, but can not seem to find anything. I have been gluten free for a year + now with few "accidents", recently I was diagnosed with Bipolar II and the shrink put me on a low dose of Lithium. My guts have really been bothering me for the last few weeks and I am not sure if it is the Lithium or if I am doing something new that is wrong for my disease. If you know anything, please share what you can. If not Lithium, is there an alternative?

Chicago Area Celiacs, Please, I Need Some Help

12 December 2005 - 08:45 PM

I have tried reading thru all of the posts, but I haven't found anything yet. If anyone out there is from the Chicago area and know of a good doctor, please, I need a referal. After reading many of the posts I realize I am doing a lot of things wrong, I just want to get on a right track and not feel like this disease has gotten the best of me. Please, anyone?

Anyone Reading From Puerto Vallarta Mexico?

14 November 2005 - 06:04 AM

I have never started a topic, but we are goin to PV for the holidays and I am trying to find other english speaking Celiacs in or around the area - I am desperately going to need help with food while I am there and do not have a clue where to go. I don't speak or read spanish. If anyone who reads this can give me another website to go to or some help, I would really appreciate it. With soo many americans and candians living there, there has got to be SOMEONE with this disease who can give me some pointers! Please source those think tanks of yours and get back to me!

Depression

01 October 2005 - 06:35 AM

Hi all, I hope I am doing this post correctly :o - I have been reading the posts on sleep and drinking. I have been a die hard white wine drinker for sometime, and I can admit that I rely on it to calm me down so I can relax and let my brain and body take a break. I am not saying this is a healthy way to take care of the problem, but for me it works. You are right about the blood sugar levels dropping if you over due it, and it can take days to get out of your system. Anyway, I had another question for all of you. I have been gluten-free since April of 05, for the first several months I was pretty much on top of the world, my tummy didn't hurt, I wasn't frantically keeping track of where the closest rest room was AND I started to drop a couple of pounds and feel less bloated. All good stuff! That is all changing for me now. I have read that celiac disease is associated with mood swings and fatique, but I can't find the way around them. Has anyone else had this problem?
