In Topic: Should I Do A Gluten Challange?

22 August 2014 - 03:29 PM

I went gluten free last year before getting tested, but then couldn't stand my family, their comments, the hunger and all that and ended eating gluten light. Now i did the gluten challenge because i wanted the diagnosis just to be able to go gluten free again, becausei dont have family support and i dont want to starve.

I tried to reintroduce gluten several times, and ended having all the symptoms i had before going gluten free..so now i have no doubts!!

Here's another update on my gluten challenge.

I feel really sad now, I'm a little depressed. I couldn't eat as much gluten as required (1 or 2 slices of bread a day), my symptoms were very bad, so I ate it every 4 days I think, so that the symptoms were not as bad, but recently started  feeling worse even eating gluten every 4 or 5 days, I felt bad all the time,so I've got back to my gluten light diet since then (like 1 week ago). my stomach hurts bad, and I know it's not only gas, because I've been through that gas pain and its not the same!

I got the lab done today, so I'm waiting for the results.. i dont really  expect the antibodies to come positive, i would like to have another biopsy but my doctor wont send it with negative lab result.

This gluten light diet is not working :( i'll try to be as gluten free as possible but it's still difficult..

I dont really know what I'm gonna do now, I've tried it all. The only thing I haven't asked for is the genetic test, but I think it's useless since it wont make any doctotr diagnose me with anything.

Maybe I'll try to start a strict gluten-free diet when I find a job, my mom's gonna think I'm crazy again and all that but I dont know if I care now.

So now I'm still sad, sick, and alone.

Search for recipes of baked goods, i have some links to pages with my fav recipes but they're in spanish..   you can find a lot of stuff on the internet, though its less stressing in the beggining just to buy everything already done xD

Hi, when i went gluten free, i was very very sick, had bloody diahrrea 15 times a day and had a lot of pain and bloating after eating. i was very ill so i kept reacting everytime i ate for 2 months .. i ate something a little spicy or something that contained onions/garlic and i immediatly bloated and had diahrrea. i also reacted when i ate dairy. i was so disappointed that gluten free diet wasnt working but i made a lot of mistakes, was getting glutened once a week i think, so when i started feeling better, i was glutened and that was a vicious cycle that lasted 2 months!!

You have to make sure youre not getting glutened by cross contamination or traces of gluten. replace stuff like pizza pans (only if they have stuck food or grease), also replace all wooden utensils. some people also replace non sticking pans.wash the rest of the utensils very well. you must have a separate kitchen cloth for your gluten free stuff and make sure the other members of the house dont gluten the towels and kitch clothes you use. also check your make up, at leas the stuff you put on your face and lips, cuz those are likely to be ingested.

And you cant kiss someone who's just eaten something with gluten unless he/she brushes his/her teeth!

Hang in there!! it gets better :)
