#878465 Has Anyone Healed Some Of Their Intolerances?

Posted by jerseyangel on 07 July 2013 - 03:57 AM

I stayed off of my "additional intolerances" for a period of 5 years. I got used to eating that way, but at about that 5 year mark (I've been gluten-free for 8 years), I was curious.

I had been completely off tapioca, coconut, soy, dairy, legumes, corn, citrus and gluten including oats.

After those 5 years, I am able to comfortably eat tapioca, dairy, corn, citrus and legumes.

I'm thinking the soy and coconut are permanent for me, but I now have incredible variety in my diet.

#870254 The New Celiac Drug Is Out There

Posted by jerseyangel on 23 May 2013 - 05:40 AM

It's not for me. I am leery of new drugs, you never know what else they might or might not lead to down the pike.

I also tend to get most listed side effects -- just lucky that way.

The "suffering" on a gluten-free diet is overblown in my opinion. I eat very well, and I've yet to have a complaint from dinner guests at my home where I cook strictly gluten-free.

#866064 Legumes

Posted by jerseyangel on 30 April 2013 - 05:07 PM

I couldn't eat legumes of any kind for years. Made me so sick. After about 7 years gluten-free, I gingerly tried some again and now do ok with them in moderation.

I would be afraid to use soap on food personally, any residue would probably cause diarrhea. Whatever works :)

No way on Gawd's green earth I'm ever eating gluten again. It all but took away 25 years of my life. And I don't want a pill that is gonna tinker with my immune system--I've got enough problems with it.....

#840444 Liver Problems In Celiac

Posted by jerseyangel on 02 December 2012 - 03:37 AM

I also have liver issues . I was diagnosed with gilbert's disease becasue of elevated level of unconjugated bilirubins. My liver enzyme levels were also all over the place. My GI doc said if my emzymes kept getting worse he would want to do a liver biopsy for liver disease as a precaution but he felt it was because of my celiacs. My enzyme are still off somewhat but not getting worse , and my bilirubins are still elevated. . The main thing is they are not getting worse.

1956, I have also been diagnosed with Gilbert's, my bilirubin fluctuates as well as my enzymes. I was told by the doctor to be careful not to get dehydrated, as that would cause it to dip.
