Trouble Sleeping After Going gluten-free?

16 December 2013 - 01:24 PM

This topic came up somewhere else I had posted. Did anyone notice that their child started having trouble sleeping after you went gluten-free? If so, how long did it last? Our son has been waking up much earlier since we went gluten-free and we're into our 4th week. It's not a good thing either as his behavior is reflecting it.

May Contain Trace Amounts... A Question

30 November 2013 - 04:17 AM

I was looking at chocolates for the kids Christmas stockings. Now, the ingredients are:

Milk chocolate (chocolate, skim milk, cane sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, organic blue agave, inulin, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), cane sugar, calcium carbonate, colored with purple cabbage juice, beetroot juice, annatto extract, turmeric extract) gum arabic, vanilla extract, carnauba wax & beeswax

So, no flour that I can see. However, on the packaging it does say "May Contain Wheat".  So, would they be okay, or should we not get them on the chance, that there was cross-contamination?

Do I Need To Replace Things? (Ie. Toaster, Baking Stones?)

I came across something that said I would have to replace our toasted, baking stones etc... Is that true?

How Long For Results?

24 November 2013 - 04:47 AM

Once you went gluten-free, I'm wondering how long it was until you saw consistent improvements in the areas of:

bowel habits (specifically chronic constipation, floating stool and mucusy stool)

sensory issues

Already Seeing Improvements... Am I Dreaming?

21 November 2013 - 05:19 AM

So, while researching the gluten-free diet, we just decided to go gluten-free for a few days, to see if we could actually "do" it, while researching it and seeing if we wanted to try it. My children have not had any gluten since Monday morning. And... I think we're seeing improvements!

For my son - he has been noticeably less gassy, and I haven't seen his ears turn red, once. He's also been easier to transition.

For my daughter - two nights in a row now she has gone to sleep without her Melatonin, and last night she slept clear through until 5:30!!!

Is it possible to start seeing improvements that soon, or is it a fluke?
