Mr. Durwood is on his deathbed and knows the end is near.

His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons, are with him.

He says to them:

"Paul, I want you to take the Shaughnessy houses."

"Valerie, take the condos over in Coal Harbour and False Creek."

"Mike, I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre."

"Mildred, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings in Point Grey."

The nurse is just blown away by all this, and, as Mr. Durwood slips away, she says, "Mrs. Durwood, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this property!"

Mildred replies, "Property? The a**hole had a paper route!"

Have you guys

-Seen the Shakeweight and the male shake weight commercials?

-Seen the very innapropriate spoof videos on youtube?

The funniest routine I've seen dealing with the shakeweight was done by Ellen Degeneres.....She brought one out during her opening monologue, started shaking it and, wide-eyed, said, "Wow.....I'VE never used these particular muscles before!".....

WELL, HEY!!! Psillyville stirs again!   :D    :D     Hmmmm......joke.....joke....let's see.....

Well, this is from real life: at the entrance to the funeral home/cemetery near me, the big, austere, stone-surrounded sign at the main entryway says, "Drive carefully.....we'll wait"....

#869269 Mushroom (Neroli) Memorial Thread

Posted by on 17 May 2013 - 04:19 AM

I imagine she is eating a nice pizza with a side of baked potato and a big bowl of ice cream or some decadent gluteny dessert.

I know that there is something else she is doing. As I mentioned in an email to the Tickle Me Elbow gang, I know that Neroli was a big cat lady. She spoke so fondly of her Miss Emily (which resonated with me as I am an Emily), and I knew that she was one of those people whom cats love.

Well, in the past month we have had to have our two elderly cats put to sleep, our old beautiful Tess just two days ago. Funny how things transpire.....for last night in my haze of grief, a great warmth suddenly washed over me, for I am sure that my two lovely little feline souls have met up with Neroli and have found her waiting lap.

As the story continues to unfold, my heart continues to break a little more...and the anger within me builds.....fury, really. Prayers from up here to all those injured and lost.  Ottawa holds the biggest Canadian race weekend in a couple of weeks, and my family is involved -- my son and husband are volunteering throughout, stationed right at the finish line. We refuse to have this horrific act change where we go and what we do, but somehow things will never feel the same at these international events.....

For those Psillies with whom I'm not in contact on facebook, I must mention here the huge international event that is starting this Saturday. It is the Yukon Quest, one of the most gruelling sporting events ever held. My BIL and SIL live up in Tagish, a community that sits about 80 km north of Whitehorse, where they professionally train, breed and race sled dogs year-round. BIL Ed is in the Quest this year (I believe his third time.....wife Michelle has run it three times as well)......it's so very exciting. There are world-class mushers from everywhere, including Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden, taking teams on the 1,000-mile course -- up four mountain ranges, across frozen lakes and rivers and through tiny isolated communities. The fastest teams will do it in about twelve days. I just cannot imagine..... .....

Here is the website where updates will be available as the race continues through the first and second weeks of February.....

Ed is celiac, and has had a great deal of trouble finding appropriate gluten-free food to pack for the two-week stint (nutritionally packed, easily portable, etc.). This will be his first world race as a diagnosed celiac. We've gotta root for The Celiac on The Sled.....

The kids in charge of the concessions want to have a bunch of things, but I'm trying to limit them to coffee, hot chocolate, juice, 1 diet soda, 1 caffienated soda, 1 non-caf soda, mini-muffin packages, granola bars, candy, chips (let me go look at the list & be back)

OMG.. ....I canna believe that WINE is NOT on that list. . .. ..Parents and grandparents there from seven to one.....and NO WINE??....What in hell. . . . ....

What do you teach, Vynscegnt?
I am going over the master list of props/costume items needed for Jack's Fall Production. We have a labour dispute going on within the province between all the teachers' unions and the government, who just passed a bill of pretty tight austerity measures. As per usual, the kids are the ones suffering, as the teachers have stopped ALL extra-curricular activities -- no high school sports teams, arts clubs, tutoring groups, or drama productions. SOoOOoOo, some amazing kids at Jack's school decided that the show must go on, and are putting on their own huge production all on their own. They've had to search out sponsors, get a rehearsal venue, theatre for the final shows, all props and costumes, all advertising .....with no help from the school board. It's quite exciting, really. |I can't believe what these kids can do with a little support.

So I need to find, in order of importance: two burqas, a straight jacket, a (fake) sub-machine gun and and a sultan's headdress.

Here's the promotional poster I did. We're sending it to all media outlets and posting it on community billboards. Jack's the guy on the left...

There was one family who we have not heard from since before the storm and we could not reach all day. So I put out an all call on Facebook to track them down and someone saw it and called someone else who drove out to their house and found them stuck with out power or food! Now they have dinner and are safe! Yay! Internet+Smart phones rock at a time like this! *insert snoopy dancing here*
